Lipid mobilizing factor from the hypothalamus
Metabolism, 1970Abstract Mouse epididymal fat pads were incubated for 2 hours in 3 per cent albumin Krebs-Ringer phosphate buffer (KRP), free of calcium and glucose, or in Krebs-Ringer bicarbonate (KRB) containing calcium. Addition of defatted acetic acid extracts of pituitary stalk and median eminence (SME) of ovine, porcine, bovine and human orgin significantly ...

Lipid Mobilization in X-Irradiated Rabbits
Radiation Research, 1961The effects of lethal total-body x irradiation on various plasma lipid fractions and the degree of peripheral lipid mobilization were investigated in rabbits. Peripheral lipid mobilization was measured by the decrease in lipid concentration of a characteristic fat depot and the plasma free fatty acid response.

Lipid mobilization in cachexia
Current Opinion in Supportive & Palliative Care, 2011Extensive loss of body fat is considered as a hallmark of cancer cachexia which affects the quality of life and shortens survival. Evidence suggests that increased lipid mobilization has a central role in adipose tissue wasting. This review summarizes recent progress, with a particular focus on the mechanisms and the potential mediators of lipid ...

Current Clinical Status of Lipid-Mobilizer Hormone
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1959A number of studies dealing with a lipidmobilizing hormone (LM) have been reported from these experimental and clinical laboratories. 1-18 This substance was discovered, in 1954, by Seifter and Baeder. 1 These investigators, working with rats and dogs, demonstrated a lipemia-clearing effect with hyaluronidase, with hyaluronate, and with ...

Alternative lipid mobilization: The insect shuttle system
Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 2002Lipid mobilization in long-distance flying insects has revealed a novel concept for lipid transport in the circulatory system during exercise. Similar to energy generation for sustained locomotion in mammals, the work accomplished by non-stop flight activity is powered by oxidation of free fatty acids (FFA) derived from endogenous reserves of ...

Indirectly acting sympathotropic drugs and lipid mobilization
International Journal of Neuropharmacology, 1964Abstract The influence on the adrenergic lipid mobilization from the depot adipose tissue by such substances which influence the release of norepinephrine from the nerve endings, has been followed up. Cocaine in the used concentrations had no influence on the norepinephrine-induced release of non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA).

Lipid Mobilization and Metabolism after Thermal Trauma
The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1982Lipid mobilization following thermal injury was studied in 25 patients with burns of between 35 and 95% TBSA for 30 to 50 days postinjury. The concentration of free fatty acids and glycerol in the plasma was elevated. The concentration of plasma triglycerides was elevated, while the concentration of ketone bodies remained normal.

Arabidopsis thaliana mutants disrupted in lipid mobilization
Biochemical Society Transactions, 2000To isolate mutants in the process of lipid mobilization during post-germinative growth we employed a screen using the pro-herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxybutyric acid (2,4-DB). The phenotypes of a number of 2,4-DB-resistant mutants are compared with previously characterized mutants disrupted in β-oxidation or the glyoxylate cycle.
