Native and Heated Hydrolysates of Milk Proteins and Their Capacity to Inhibit Lipid Peroxidation in the Zebrafish Larvae Model

open access: yesFoods, 2017
Casein and whey proteins with and without heat treatment were obtained of whole milk and four commercial milks in Ecuador, and were hydrolyzed. Then, their capacity to inhibit the lipid peroxidation using the TBARS method was evaluated at concentrations ...

Targeting Lactate and Lactylation in Cancer Metabolism and Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lactate, once deemed a metabolic waste, emerges as a central regulator of cancer progression. This review elucidates how lactate and its epigenetic derivative, protein lactylation, orchestrate tumor metabolism, immune suppression, and therapeutic resistance.

Acid phosphatase and lipid peroxidation in human cataractous lens epithelium

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 1993
The anterior lens epithelial cells undergo a variety of degenerative and proliferative changes during cataract formation. Acid phosphatase is primarily responsible for tissue regeneration and tissue repair.

Hepatocyte PIEZO1 Negatively Regulates Lipogenesis and Ameliorates MASLD by Sensing Membrane Tension and Activating AMPK

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hepatocytes are subjected to increased membrane tension along with lipid accumulation. Loss of PIEZO1 exacerbates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. Activation of PIEZO1 alleviates high‐fat diet‐induced MASLD in mice. PIEZO1 negatively regulates de novo lipogenesis through activation of CaMKK2‐AMPK pathway. ABSTRACT Liver is a central organ for lipid

LIPID PEROXIDATION INDUCED BY GLUTATHIONE DEPLETION

open access: yes, 1980
This chapter discusses the lipid peroxidation induced by glutathione (GSH) depletion. GSH is a cofactor for enzymatic reduction of peroxides and may have a critical role in protection against lipid peroxidation.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Targeting Peptostreptococcus anaerobius with an Iron‐Based Nanozyme Reverses Ferroptosis Resistance and Enhances Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An iron‐based nanozyme selectively eliminates intratumoral P. anaerobius while catalytically generating ROS to induce ferroptosis, synergistically suppressing colorectal cancer growth and activating anti‐tumor immunity through immunogenic cell death. ABSTRACT The intratumoral microbiota is a critical determinant of therapeutic outcomes in colorectal ...

Effects of vitamins E and C on exercise-induced lipid peroxidation

open access: yes, 1996
The aim of this study was to examine whether vitamins E (200 IU) and C (1 g) in combination would influence exercise-induced lipid peroxidation to a greater extent than vitamin E (400 IU) alone.

Decrease of Auditory Evoked Delta, Alpha and Beta Oscillatory Responses in d-galactose Induced Aging Model: Effects of Rosmarinic Acid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gerontology, 2018
Summary: Background: Age-related hearing impairment is one of the most common complaints among older people. It was reported that central neural processing deficits contribute this deficit and improving central auditory function might be beneficial for ...
