Meat crust as a novel food ingredient to regulate lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress
Pan Fry (PF) is a common heating treatment however, there is limited data on meat oxidation after PF using direct contact with an uncoated iron pan. After PF, a crust is formed, and in this study, we aim to evaluate the potential anti-oxidation and anti ...

Differential Compartmentalization of Enzymatic Reactions for Lactate Signaling Across Protocells
Two populations of protocells consisting of giant unilamellar vesicles containing active species and distinct artificial organelles are competent of collective behavior by mimicking production, intercellular communication, and detection of the bioinspired signal molecule lactate. Enzymatic cascade reactions within artificial organelles demonstrate that

Deuterated Linoleic Acid Attenuates the RBC Storage Lesion in a Mouse Model of Poor RBC Storage
Background: Long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are important modulators of red blood cell (RBC) rheology. Dietary PUFAs are readily incorporated into the RBC membrane, improving RBC deformability, fluidity, and hydration.

Biological effects of cigarette smoke in cultured human retinal pigment epithelial cells. [PDF]
The goal of the present study was to determine whether treatment with cigarette smoke extract (CSE) induces cell loss, cellular senescence, and extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis in primary human retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells. Primary cultured

Functional Hydrogel for Modulating Lipid Droplets and Neuroinflammation in Head Injury
After TBI, elevated cholesterol levels in activated microglia lead to the accumulation of cholesterol esters in lipid droplets, exacerbating neuroinflammation. A β‐cyclodextrin‐conjugated GelMA (βCD‐GelMA) hydrogel is developed to promotes cholesterol efflux and reduces LDL influx, thereby alleviating intracellular cholesterol and lipid droplet buildup.

Lipid peroxidation of immune cells in cancer
Growing evidence indicates that cellular metabolism is a critical determinant of immune cell viability and function in antitumor immunity and lipid metabolism is important for immune cell activation and adaptation to the tumor microenvironment (TME ...

Association between lipid peroxidation biomarkers and microRNA expression profiles
Background: In-vitro and animal studies demonstrate that epigenetic regulation may play an important role in lipid peroxidation. No human study to date has directly evaluated microRNAs (miRNAs), as epigenetic modulators, in relation to systemic levels of

Iron toxicity, lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis after intracerebral haemorrhage
Intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating type of stroke with high mortality and morbidity. However, we have few options for ICH therapy and limited knowledge about post-ICH neuronal death and related mechanisms.
