Characterization of the lipolytic activity of endothelial lipase

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
Endothelial lipase (EL) is a new member of the triglyceride lipase gene family previously reported to have phospholipase activity. Using radiolabeled lipid substrates, we characterized the lipolytic activity of this enzyme in comparison to lipoprotein ...

The Genetic Blueprint of Obesity: From Pathogenesis to Novel Therapies

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Obesity is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by disturbances in energy homeostasis, leading to excessive fat accumulation. The pathogenesis of the disease is shaped by a complex interplay of genetic, epigenetic, biological, psychological, and environmental factors.

Comparison of the triglyceride lipase of liver, adipose tissue, and postheparin plasma

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1972
Heparin-released triglyceride lipase from three sources, adipose tissue, liver, and postheparin plasma, was compared. Heparin-released triglyceride lipase from liver differed in several major respects from that in adipose tissue.

GREM1 deficiency induced bone marrow adipose niche promotes B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia disease progression

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 157, Issue 3, Page 559-572, 1 August 2025.
What's new? Too often, children treated for B‐cell acute lymphocytic leukemia (B‐ALL) experience relapse. Here, the authors investigate the role of dyslipidemia in leukemia progression. Higher adipogenicity in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, and increased triglyceride accumulation, are associated with higher risk of death.

Acute inhibition of hepatic lipase and increase in plasma lipoproteins after alcohol intake.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1984
Chronic alcohol intake is associated with an increase in fasting plasma high density lipoproteins (HDL). To study alcohol's acute effects on plasma lipoproteins, we measured plasma lipoprotein concentrations and activities of postheparin plasma lipases ...

Meta‐Analysis: Effects of Steatotic Liver Disease‐Associated Genetic Risk Alleles on Longitudinal Outcomes

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 244-276, August 2025.
Genetic variants associated with risk of steatotic liver disease (SLD) may also influence clinical events. A systematic review and meta‐analysis consisting of 288,423 patients across 40 studies found that variants in PNPLA3, TM6SF2 and MBOAT7 are significantly associated with hepatic outcomes, with modest effects on extrahepatic outcomes.

Very low density lipoproteins and lipoprotein lipase in serum of rats deficient in essential fatty acids

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1972
Rats fed a diet deficient in essential fatty acids have a low level of serum very low density lipoproteins (VLDL). It was found that after intraperitoneal injection of heparin, deficient rats had a higher level of lipoprotein lipase activity in their ...
