Genetic and environmental contributions to the associations between midlife personality and late‐life metabolic health

open access: yesObesity, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Personality traits such as conscientiousness and emotional stability are consistently linked with better metabolic health, but there is limited evidence on the etiology of these associations and their robustness across the life‐span. Methods Therefore, we estimated phenotypic, genetic, and unique environmental associations of traits ...

Risk of Metabolic Syndrome and Glucose Homeostasis Among Childhood and Young Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Survivors: Part of the ALL‐STAR Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Metabolic syndrome (MetS), a risk factor for early cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, is seen in up to 34% of survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Procedure We performed a Danish, national cross‐sectional study of ALL survivors (aged 1–45 years at diagnosis) treated according to the NOPHO ALL2008 protocol,

Application of machine learning in constructing a diagnostic model for neonatal biliary atresia

open access: yesPediatric Investigation, EarlyView.
This study included 85 neonates who visited the hospital due to pathological jaundice. Using the basic clinical characteristics and serological examination data of the neonatal period, we developed six machine‐learning (ML) models. Extreme gradient boosting has the maximum potential to diagnose biliary atresia in the neonatal period.

Urinary Proteomics and Systems Biology Link Eight Proteins to the Higher Risk of Hypertension and Related Complications in Blacks Versus Whites

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Blacks are more prone to salt‐sensitive hypertension than Whites. This cross‐sectional analysis of a multi‐ethnic cohort aimed to search for proteins potentially involved in the susceptibility to salt sensitivity, hypertension, and hypertension‐related complications.
