The Role of High Density Lipoproteins in Thrombosis

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2002
Lipids and lipoproteins, as well as factors involved in hemostasis and thrombosis, play a central role in the pathogenesis of cardio- and cerebrovascular disease.

Lipid transfer between human serum high density lipoproteins and egg yolk lipoproteins in incubation mixtures

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1966
Ultracentrifugally isolated human serum high density lipoproteins of d 1.063-1.21 (HDL) were incubated with egg yolk lipoproteins of d < 1.006 for up to 24 hr at various concentrations. Transfer of HDL cholesterol esters to egg yolk lipoproteins occurred

Investigation on the Influence of Protein Corona and Platelet Adhesion on Storage Bag Surface on the Platelet Storage Lesion

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Platelet quality deteriorates during storage due to protein and platelet adhesion to current bag materials. Here, polymer coatings are identified that reduce adhesion and translated them to mini‐storage bags. Platelet quality are not impacted, despite significantly reducing adhesion.

Properties of an apolipoprotein E-enriched fraction of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins isolated from human blood plasma with a monoclonal antibody to apolipoprotein B-100.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1992
A monoclonal antibody to apolipoprotein (apo) B-100 (JI-H) with unique binding properties has been used to separate a population of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins from blood plasma of normotriglyceridemic individuals and patients with various forms of ...

Relationship Between Physical Conditioning and Plasma High Density Lipoprotein-Cholesterol Concentration [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Five subjects (three females and two males) took part in an exercise regimen in order to determine if aerobic exercise results in an increase in high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol levels (HDL-C) in the plasma.

Epigenetic and antitumor effects of platinum(IV)-octanoato conjugates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present the anticancer properties of cis, cis, trans-[Pt(IV)(NH3)2Cl2(OA)2] [Pt(IV)diOA] (OA = octanoato), Pt(IV) derivative of cisplatin containing two OA units appended to the axial positions of a six-coordinate Pt(IV) center.

Platelets and Lipoproteins

open access: yesPlatelets, 1994
Sir, Malle and Sattler's excellent review links lipids with the release of serotonin from platelets.' It is therefore, of interest that correlations between serum cholesterol and intraplatelet/plasma serotonin concentrations have been reported.'-* Moreover, reducing serum cholesterol and low density lipoprotein (LDL) concentrations normalised ...

Molecular Mechanisms of Extracellular Vesicle Biogenesis and Their Impact on the Design of Custom EVs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are pivotal mediators of intercellular communication and disease, yet the fundamental mechanisms controlling their biogenesis and cargo selection remain unclear. This limitation hinders their diagnostic utility and therapeutic development.

Chylomicron remnant cholesteryl esters as the major constituent of very low density lipoproteins in plasma of cholesterol-fed rabbits

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1977
Feeding rabbits 500 mg of cholesterol daily for 4 to 15 days greatly increased the concentration of esterified cholesterol in lipoproteins of d < 1.006 g/ml.
