BRP-187: A potent inhibitor of leukotriene biosynthesis that acts through impeding the dynamic 5-lipoxygenase/5-lipoxygenase-activating protein (FLAP) complex assembly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The pro-inflammatory leukotrienes (LTs) are formed from arachidonic acid (AA) in activated leukocytes, where 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) translocates to the nuclear envelope to assemble a functional complex with the integral nuclear membrane protein 5-LO ...

Synthesis of Unsymmetric Bis(heteroaryl) Selenides by Rhodium‐Catalyzed Exchange Reaction of Heteroaryl Fluorides and Ethers Using Se‐Heteroaryl Carboselenoates

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Various unsymmetric bis(heteroaryl) selenides are synthesized by the rhodium‐catalyzed exchange reaction of heteroaryl fluorides and ethers with Se‐heteroaryl 1‐adamatanecarboselenoates. The synthetic method is applicable to a broad range of five‐ and six‐membered heteroaryl derivatives and provides compounds containing multiple heteroatoms.

Reversal of High dietary fructose-induced PPARα suppression by oral administration of lipoxygenase/cyclooxygenase inhibitors

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism, 2005
High fructose feeding causes diet-induced alterations of lipid metabolism and decreased insulin sensitivity, hallmark of which is a rapid and profound hypertriglyceridemia. One of the mechanisms that contribute to serum hypertriglyceridemia in this model

Tertiary alkylamines as nucleophiles in substitution reactions at heteroaromatic halide during the synthesis of the highly potent pirinixic acid derivative 2-(4-chloro-6-(2,3-dimethylphenylamino)pyrimidin-2-ylthio)octanoic acid (YS-121) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
YS-121 [2-(4-chloro-6-(2,3-dimethylphenylamino)pyrimidin-2-ylthio)octanoic acid] is the result of target-oriented structural derivatization of pirinixic acid.

Nutritional Potential, Phytochemical Content, In Vivo Antioxidant, and Antanemic Potential of Musa paradisiaca Flower

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
After collecting Musa paradisiaca leaves, some were dried and others were used to produce aqueous extracts. The extracts and powders were characterized and then administered to rats made anaemic by PHZ. After 14 days of administration of the two samples, the rats were euthanized and it was observed that after 9 days of treatment, the aqueous extract ...

Polarization of macrophages toward M2 phenotype is favored by reduction in iPLA2β (group VIA phospholipase A2)* [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Macrophages are important in innate and adaptive immunity. Macrophage participation in inflammation or tissue repair is directed by various extracellular signals and mediated by multiple intracellular pathways.

Group V Phospholipase A2 Induces Leukotriene Biosynthesis in Human Neutrophils through the Activation of Group IVA Phospholipase A2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We reported previously that exogenously added human group V phospholipase A2 (hVPLA2) could elicit leukotriene B4 (LTB4) biosynthesis in human neutrophils (Han, S. K., Kim, K. P., Koduri, R., Bittova, L., Munoz, N. M., Leff, A. R., Wilton, D. C., Gelb, M.

Bioactive Phytochemical Compounds in Medicago sativa L. (Alfalfa): A Systematic Review of Biological Properties and Therapeutic Relevance in Nutraceutical and Functional Food Implications

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Medicago sativa L. (alfalfa) harbors a remarkably diverse reservoir of bioactive secondary metabolites. Flavonoids, isoflavones, and triterpenoid saponins dominate its bioactivity landscape, driving potent antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, antimicrobial, estrogenic, hypolipidemic, and cytotoxic actions through redox modulation, membrane ...
