Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

A review of epidemic preparedness for influenza through local vaccine production: national security for Thailand

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2019
Being vigilant of the potential for an influenza pandemic, the Global Action Plan for Influenza Vaccines (GAP) promoted the establishment and maintenance of local vaccine manufacturing capacity.

Live vaccination tactics: possible approaches for controlling visceral leishmaniasis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
Vaccination with durable immunity is the main goal and fundamental to control leishmaniasis. To stimulate the immune response, small numbers of parasites are necessary to be presented in the mammalian host.

Brucellosis: The case for live, attenuated vaccines [PDF]

open access: yesVaccine, 2009
The successful control of animal brucellosis and associated reduction in human exposure has limited the development of human brucellosis vaccines. However, the potential use of Brucella in bioterrorism or biowarfare suggests that direct intervention strategies are warranted.

Seroconversion of a Thermostable live Attenuated Lentogenic Strain Newcastle Disease Vaccine (Local isolate) in Chicken

open access: yes, 2017
Vaccine was prepared by using the isolate, exposed to 430 C for 12 days. The vaccination was performed in two thousand four hundred breeder flocks (Banoraja) in 3 different flocks @106.5 EID50 per bird oronasally at the age of day 5 (primary ...

Effect of DFPP on Ferroptosis in Peripheral Blood CD14+ Monocytes of Hyperlipidemic Patients Involving the ACSL4/LPCAT3/ALOX5 Pathway

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although statins are the cornerstone of lipid‐lowering therapy, their use may be limited in some patients by adverse effects. This study evaluated the possible impact of non‐drug treatment using double‐filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on CD14+

Inhibitors of the interferon response enhance virus replication in vitro. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This work was supported by the University of St Andrews (CSA, CES) and the Wellcome Trust (grant 087751/A/08/Z) (RER).Virus replication efficiency is influenced by two conflicting factors, kinetics of the cellular interferon (IFN) response and induction ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Field Trial with Vaccine Candidates Against Bovine Tuberculosis Among Likely Infected Cattle in a Natural Transmission Setting

open access: yesVaccines
Background/Objectives: Vaccines may improve the control and eradication of bovine tuberculosis. However, the evaluation of experimental candidates requires the assessment of the protection, excretion, transmission and biosafety.

Parenteral vaccination of mammalian livestock with Newcastle disease virus-based vector vaccines offers optimal efficacy and safety [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) is an avian virus that is being evaluated as a vaccine vector for the delivery of foreign genes in mammals. The use of NDV as a vaccine vector in these species offers two major advantages.
