An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Singular Spectrum Analysis for Forecasting of Electric Load Demand

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2013
This paper presents the technique of Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) and its application for electric load forecasting purposes. SSA is a relatively new non-parametric data-driven technique developed to model non-linear and/or non-stationary, noisy time series.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

On Flows Spectrum on Closed Trio of Contours with Uniform Load

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics, 2018
Considered dynamical system is a flow of clusters with the same length $l$ on contours of unit lengthconnected in polar-remote points into closed chain. When clusters move trough common node, the left-priority rule of conflict resolution works. In the paper it is shown that in the case of chain consisted third contours the dynamical system has a spectrum

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Deriving Occurrence Variability in Fatigue Critical Turning Manoeuvres for Landing Gear Design from Air Traffic Data

open access: yesAerospace
The safety-critical nature of aircraft landing gear has led to interest in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) and Remaining Useful Life (RUL) methodologies for the fatigue substantiation of landing gear assemblies.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
