Fatigue Damage Assessment of a Metro Vehicle Bogie Frame Based on Measured Field Load

open access: yesMachines
As the operating conditions of metro vehicles become more complex, the fatigue damage of metro bogie frames under actual operating conditions becomes increasingly difficult to evaluate realistically.

Design Spectrum Analysis in NASTRAN [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
The utility of Design Spectrum Analysis is to give a mode by mode characterization of the behavior of a design under a given loading. The theory of design spectrum is discussed after operations are explained.

GRB 090227B: the missing link between the genuine short and long GRBs

open access: yes, 2013
The time-resolved spectral analysis of GRB090227B, made possible by the Fermi-GBM data, allows to identify in this source the missing link between the genuine short and long GRBs.

The Planck-LFI instrument: analysis of the 1/f noise and implications for the scanning strategy [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We study the impact of the 1/f noise on the PLANCK Low Frequency Instrument (LFI) osbervations (Mandolesi et al 1998) and describe a simple method for removing striping effects from the maps for a number of different scanning stategies.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Life prediction technology of aircraft structures based on structural health monitoring

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan
Aircraft structural health monitoring technology plays an important role in the process of aircraft structural design, flight and maintenance. This technology can be used to predict structural health conditions and assist in maintenance and repair ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Evolving Optical Networks for Latency-Sensitive Smart-Grid Communications via Optical Time Slice Switching (OTSS) Technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we proposed a novel OTSS-assisted optical network architecture for smart-grid communication networks, which has unique requirements for low-latency connections.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Selective Attention and Perceptual Load in Autism Spectrum Disorder [PDF]

open access: yesPsychological Science, 2009
It has been suggested that the locus of selective attention (early vs. late in processing) is dependent on the perceptual load of the task. When perceptual load is low, irrelevant distractors are processed (late selection), whereas when perceptual load is high, distractor interference disappears (early selection).
