A Cre‐dependent lentiviral vector for neuron subtype‐specific expression of large proteins

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We designed a versatile and modular lentivector comprising a Cre‐dependent switch and self‐cleaving 2A peptide and tested it for co‐expression of GFP and a 2.8 kb gene of interest (GOI) in mouse cortical parvalbumin (PV+) interneurons and midbrain dopamine (TH+) neurons.

Local Food Supply Chain Dynamics and Resilience during COVID ‐19

open access: yes, 2020
Local and regional food systems (LRFS) innovated during COVID-19 to respond to market demand and policy changes. Given their unique characteristics, we identify drivers that explain why local responses to COVID-19 vary when compared with the national ...

Discussion - cooperation in local organic food systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
What is needed for local food systems to emerge? First, time. Second, active people are needed. In order to be sustainable local and ecological food chains need to be, at least to some extent, economically ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Growing and Eating Food during the COVID-19 Pandemic: Farmers’ Perspectives on Local Food System Resilience to Shocks in Southern Africa and Indonesia

open access: yesSustainability, 2020
The COVID-19 outbreak forced governments to make decisions that had adverse effects on local food systems and supply chains. As a result, many small-scale food producers faced difficulties growing, harvesting, and selling their goods.

Strenthening local food systems: tracing learning of knowledge and skills by content and discourse analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The local food systems meet the food systems of scale on the local market, where the local and regional chains are looking for ways to survive and even to strengthen.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Examining green purchasing. The role of environmental concerns, perceptions on climate change, preferences for EU integration, and media exposure

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2023
Factors impacting green consumption studied in the literature include 1) economic incentives and possibilities, 2) socio-dem1ographic segmentation, 3) values, emotions and personal responsibilities, 4) information including education and mass media, 5 ...

The Influence of Agritourism Experiences on Consumer Behavior toward Local Food

open access: yesJournal of Travel Research, 2020
Agritourism—visiting a working farm for education or recreation—may serve as a tool to increase local food consumption as it often includes opportunities to purchase local food on-site.
