Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 16, Issue 10, Page 1958-1973, October 2026.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Clinical Outcomes and Patient Experiences With Celiprolol Therapy in Vascular Ehlers–Danlos Syndrome: The First Non‐European Cohort

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 10, Page 2241-2249, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Vascular Ehlers–Danlos syndrome (vEDS) is a hereditary connective tissue disorder caused by heterozygous pathogenic variants in COL3A1. European studies have shown that celiprolol may reduce the risk of life‐threatening vascular events, but outcomes in non‐European populations and the therapy's psychological impact remain unclear. We conducted

Genetic evidence supports a cortical neuroprotective role of GLP‐1 receptor activation in Alzheimer's disease: A drug‐target Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Whether glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor (GLP‐1R) activation lowers Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk via peripheral metabolic improvement or direct neuroprotection remains unclear. METHODS Using blood and brain‐cortex cis‐acting expression quantitative trait loci (cis‐eQTLs) for GLP‐1R as instruments, we performed cis ...

Beyond the Heart‐Lung Axis: A Review of the Crosstalk Between the Hemodynamic, Neurohormonal, and Immune Systems in Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 5, October 2026.
Pulmonary hypertension is driven by dynamic crosstalk beyond the physical connection between the heart and lung, involving neurohormonal systems, immune pathways, and peripheral organs. This review highlights how multisystem signaling contributes to disease progression and may reveal new diagnostic and therapeutic targets.

Immune cells in the pathogenesis of abdominal aortic aneurysm: Roles, regulation and targeted interventions

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
This review provides a comprehensive overview of how macrophages, neutrophils, T cells and other immune cells infiltrate the aortic wall, undergo phenotypic shifts and interact with one another in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). Background Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a lethal degenerative vascular disease with no approved clinical drugs. Immune
