Pseudo-potential treatment of two aligned dipoles under external harmonic confinement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Dipolar Bose and Fermi gases, which are currently being studied extensively experimentally and theoretically, interact through anisotropic, long-range potentials. Here, we replace the long-range potential by a zero-range pseudo-potential that simplifies the theoretical treatment of two dipolar particles in a harmonic trap.

XMem: Long-Term Video Object Segmentation with an Atkinson-Shiffrin Memory Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
We present XMem, a video object segmentation architecture for long videos with unified feature memory stores inspired by the Atkinson-Shiffrin memory model. Prior work on video object segmentation typically only uses one type of feature memory. For videos longer than a minute, a single feature memory model tightly links memory consumption and accuracy.

Stress and Corticosteroids Modulate Muscarinic Long Term Potentiation (mLTP) in the Hippocampus

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, 2017
Stress influences synaptic plasticity, learning and memory in a steroid hormone receptor dependent manner. Based on these findings it has been proposed that stress could be a major risk factor for the development of cognitive decline and dementia ...

Melatonin and Its Effect on Learning and Memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Melatonin is a neurohormone produced by the pineal gland and secreted into the body in a circadian rhythm. Melatonin is known to be involved in many vital body functions, including sleep, reproduction, and immune response.

Long Term Potentiation (LTP) and Long Term Depression (LTD) Cause Differential Spatial Redistribution of the Synaptic Vesicle Protein Synaptophysin in the Middle Molecular Layer of the Dentate Gyrus in Rat Hippocampus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The presynaptic modifications that accompany long-term changes in synaptic plasticity are still not fully understood. Synaptophysin is a major synaptic vesicle protein involved in neurotransmitter release. We have used quantitative electron microscopy to

Newton Law on the Generalized Singular Brane with and without 4d Induced Gravity [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys. B669 (2003) 306-324, 2003
Newton law arising due to the gravity localized on the general singular brane embedded in $AdS_5$ bulk is examined in the absence or presence of the 4d induced Einstein term. For the RS brane, apart from the subleading correction, Newton potential obeys 4d-type and $5d$-type gravitational law at long- and short-ranges if it were not for the induced ...

Stress time-dependently influences the acquisition and retrieval of unrelated information by producing a memory of its own

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
Stress induces several temporally-guided waves of psychobiological responses that differentially influence learning and memory. One way to understand how the temporal dynamics of stress influence these cognitive processes is to consider stress, itself ...

Emulating long-term synaptic dynamics with memristive devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The potential of memristive devices is often seeing in implementing neuromorphic architectures for achieving brain-like computation. However, the designing procedures do not allow for extended manipulation of the material, unlike CMOS technology, the ...

No requirement of TRPV1 in long-term potentiation or long-term depression in the anterior cingulate cortex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
One major interest in the study of transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) in sensory system is that it may serve as a drug target for treating chronic pain.

Long-term potentiation at CA3-CA1 hippocampal synapse with special emphasis on aging, disease, and stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2011
Synaptic plasticity in the mammalian central nervous system has been the subject of intense investigation for the past four decades. Long-term potentiation (LTP), a major reflection of synaptic plasticity, is an activity-driven long-lasting increase in ...
