A 0.089mm2 Multiply-Delay Locked Loop with Low Phase Noise and Uniform Phase Separation Based on Time Amplifier (TA) for TDC Applications

open access: yesJ. Circuits Syst. Comput.
A low phase noise Multiply-Delay Locked Loop (MDLL) with uniform distribution multiple output clock phases is proposed in this paper. An auto-configured time amplifier (ACTA) with high gain is embedded in the phase frequency detector to reduce the ...

Contribution of Glutamatergic and GABAergic Mechanisms to the Plasticity‐Modulating Effects of Dopamine in the Human Motor Cortex

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 3, February 15, 2025.
Background: Dopamine modulates cortical excitability and plasticity by influencing glutamate and GABA receptor activity. This study investigates the impact of general dopaminergic activation and D1‐ and D2‐like receptor modulation on transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)‐induced plasticity in humans. Methods:• Pharmacological intervention: l ...

Frontopolar Cortex Interacts With Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex to Causally Guide Metacognition

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 2, February 1, 2025.
Combining brain stimulation with neuroimaging, we show that the frontopolar cortex causally implements metacognition in value‐based choice by communicating with brain regions involved in first‐order task performance, providing empirical support for theoretical two‐layer accounts of metacognition.

A Review of Performance and Reliability Issues in D Flip‐Flops for Future Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things Applications

open access: yesIET Circuits, Devices &Systems, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
In this paper, various D flip‐flops (FFs) (DFFs) are studied and analyzed based on the performance and reliability effects of different architectures, technology, area, power, delay, and several other key performance parameters of DFFs. Based on these parameters, a few selected DFFs such as C2SFF, conditional‐bridging FF (CBFF)‐S, self‐shut‐off pulsed ...

Time‐Based Wireless Synchronous Detection of Bioimpedance Signals

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
Impedance is conventionally measured in the analogue or digital domain, incurring in high power and area consumption resulting from either the use of analogue multipliers and high‐order filters, or high‐speed ADCs. Time domain solution offer a unique advantage both in terms of power consumption and technology scalability.

A 0.8–3.2 GHz Fast‐Lock Duty‐Cycle Corrector for NAND Flash Interfaces With 50% Lower SAR‐Induced Duty‐Quantisation Error

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This letter presents a wide‐range, fast‐lock DCC for NAND Flash interfaces using an inverter‐based equalised BBDCD and 5‐bit SAR control. A half‐LSB post‐bias halves the quantisation‐error bound while maintaining ≤1% duty error and 1.73 mW power at 3.2 GHz in 28‐nm CMOS.

Design of dynamic range adjustable laser ranging chip based on element sharing

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This work proposes a design of a dynamic range adjustable laser ranging chip based on element sharing, which combines single photon avalanche diodes (SPAD) and direct time‐of‐flight (dToF) to address the uncertainty of detection distance in different usage scenarios of laser ranging technology.

Delay management for heterogeneous traffic in vehicular sensor networks using packet fragmentation of low priority data

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 18, Issue 20, Page 1753-1764, December 2024.
The paper presents performance analysis of MAC protocol for vehicular sensor networks. The protocol FROG‐MAC takes a unique approach of fragmenting the lower priority data, so data of higher priority should be transmitted first, ensuring safety of people and infrastructure.

The mechanism and effect factors of the combustion cycle‐to‐cycle variations in the spark ignition engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 12, Issue 10, Page 4773-4787, October 2024.
The authors comprehensively reviewed the fundamental reasons and mechanism of cycle‐to‐cycle variations (CCVs) of a spark ignition (SI) engine. In addition, the characteristic parameters and characterization methods of the CCV, the laws and influencing factors of the CCV, and the numerical simulation methods of the CCV were introduced in detail to ...
