Exploring the influence of lactoferrin on wound healing and related signaling pathways: a systematic review

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lactoferrin promotes wound healing by activating MAPK, PI3K/Akt, and extracellular matrix pathways, enhancing fibroblast remodeling, proliferation, and re‐epithelialization. These mechanisms highlight its therapeutic potential in inflammation control, tissue repair, and remodeling.

Post-transcriptional regulation of retroviral vector-transduced low density lipoprotein receptor activity.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1990
We have reported the use of a retroviral vector to introduce the low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor gene into receptor-deficient Watanabe heritable hyperlipidemic (WHHL) rabbit fibroblasts (Miyanohara, A., M. F. Sharkey, D. Steinberg, J. L.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Low-density lipoprotein receptor–related protein 1 mediates α-synuclein transmission from the striatum to the substantia nigra in animal models of Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research
α-Synuclein accumulation and transmission are vital to the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease, although the mechanisms underlying misfolded α-synuclein accumulation and propagation have not been conclusively determined.

Trypanosoma cruzi utilizes the host low density lipoprotein receptor in invasion. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2011
Trypanosoma cruzi, an intracellular protozoan parasite that infects humans and other mammalian hosts, is the etiologic agent in Chagas disease. This parasite can invade a wide variety of mammalian cells. The mechanism(s) by which T.

Sertraline Treatment Can Mimic Niemann‐Pick Type C Biomarker Profile: A Diagnostic Pitfall

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oxysterols (cholestane‐3β,5α,6β‐triol and 7‐ketocholesterol) and N‐palmitoyl‐O‐phosphocholineserine (PPCS) are sensitive biomarkers for Niemann‐Pick disease type C (NPC) screening. However, false‐positive results occur, with a biomarker profile suggestive of NPC despite the absence of pathogenic variants in genes involved in NPC or ...

Serum low-density lipoprotein and low-density lipoprotein expression level at diagnosis are favorable prognostic factors in patients with small-cell lung cancer (SCLC)

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2017
Background Patients with small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients demonstrate varied survival outcomes. Previous studies have reported that lipoproteins are associated with prognosis in various cancers; however, the role of low-density lipoprotein (LDL ...

Effects of Add‐On Icosapent Ethyl With Standard Treatment on Functional Outcomes and Inflammatory Biomarkers in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ischemic stroke, a major cause of mortality and long‐term disability, results from the abrupt cessation of cerebral blood flow due to vascular occlusion or rupture. Icosapent Ethyl (EPA‐EE), approved for hypertriglyceridemia, has anti‐inflammatory and antithrombotic properties that may lessen ischemic damage.

Effects of coexpression of the LDL receptor and apoE on cholesterol metabolism and atherosclerosis in LDL receptor-deficient mice

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
The low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) plays a major role in regulation of plasma cholesterol levels as a ligand for apolipoprotein B-100 and apolipoprotein E (apoE).

Predictive Value of Composite Inflammatory Markers for Stroke Prognosis: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Novel composite inflammatory markers' role in stroke prognosis is understudied, and the best predictor is unclear, requiring further exploration. Objectives This study aimed to systematically evaluate the associations of 6 novel composite inflammatory markers on stroke prognosis.
