We employed differential display of expressed mRNAs (Liang, P., and Pardee, A. B. (1992) Science 257, 967–971) to identify genes up-regulated after long term potentiation (LTP) induction in the hippocampus of awake adult rats.

miR-132/212 knockout mice reveal roles for these miRNAs in regulating cortical synaptic transmission and plasticity [PDF]
miR-132 and miR-212 are two closely related miRNAs encoded in the same intron of a small non-coding gene, which have been suggested to play roles in both immune and neuronal function.

SummaryExpression of VP16-CREB, a constitutively active form of CREB, in hippocampal neurons of the CA1 region lowers the threshold for eliciting the late, persistent phase of long-term potentiation (L-LTP) in the Schaffer collateral pathway.

Structure-function analysis on the level of individual synapses [PDF]
Excitatory synapses in the mammalian brain are made on small protrusions of the postsynaptic cell called dendritic spines. Dendritic spines are highly variable in their morphology and in their microanatomy (e.g. presence of subsynaptic organelles). It is

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance

Backbone modulation in glycolated conjugated polymers governs ion accessibility to side chains, strengthes anion adsorption, and suppresses back‐diffusion. As the number of thiophene units increases, structural reorganization, retention, and synaptic plasticity are enhanced, leading to improved neuromorphic performance in electrolyte‐gated organic ...
