Tumour cells express functional lymphatic endothelium-specific hyaluronan receptor in vitro and in vivo: Lymphatic mimicry promotes oral oncogenesis?

open access: yesOncogenesis, 2021
Lymphatic metastasis represents the main route of tumour cell dissemination in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Yet, there are no FDA-approved therapeutics targeting cancer-related lymphangiogenesis to date.

Sentinel lymph node in early stage ovarian cancer; a literature review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Although sentinel lymph node mapping has been widely implemented in gynecological malignancies in order to minimize the number of unnecessary lymph node dissections and to diminish postoperative morbidity rate, little is known about ovarian cancer ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Integrin α6‐containing extracellular vesicles promote lymphatic remodelling for pre‐metastatic niche formation in lymph nodes via interplay with CD151

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles
Heterogeneous extracellular vesicles (EVs) from various types of tumours are acknowledged for inducing the formation of pre‐metastatic “niches” in draining lymph nodes (LNs) to promote lymphatic metastasis.

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Progress in the Mechanism of Lymphangiogenesis and Lymphatic Metastasis
of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2021
Lung cancer ranks the first cancer-related morbidity and mortality in China. Tumor metastasis always predicts the poor prognosis for patients. Moreover, lymphatic metastasis is one of the most significant predictors of poor prognosis in patients with non-

Expressions and clinical significances of CD133 protein and CD133 mRNA in primary lesion of gastric adenocacinoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background To study on expressions and clinical significances of CD133 protein and CD133 mRNA in primary lesion of gastric adenocarcinoma (GC). Methods Expressions of CD133 protein by immunostaining (99 cases) and CD133 mRNA by semi-quantitative RT-PCR ...

Shared Genetic Effects and Antagonistic Pleiotropy Between Multiple Sclerosis and Common Cancers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epidemiologic studies have reported inconsistent altered cancer risk in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). Factors such as immune dysregulation, comorbidities, and disease‐modifying therapies may contribute to this variability.

Malignant priapism due to penile metastases. Case series and literature review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Malignant priapism secondary to penile metastases is a rare condition. This term was originally used by Peacock in 1938 to describe a condition of painful induration and erection of the penis due to metastatic infiltration by a neoplasm.
