Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

A Rare Case of Primary Vulvar Diffuse Large B‐Cell Lymphoma: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Primary vulvar diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma is a diagnostically challenging malignant tumor due to its low incidence and diverse clinical presentations. It has a good prognosis and is usually radio‐chemotherapy‐responsive.

In vitro transformation of lymphoid cells by Abelson murine leukemia virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Cell cultures prepared from fetal murine liver were infected by Abelson murine leukemia virus. After about 2 weeks, proliferating cells of lymphoid morphology appeared in some of the cultures.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

High rate of complete responses to immune checkpoint inhibitors in patients with relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma previously exposed to epigenetic therapy

open access: yesJournal of Hematology & Oncology, 2016
Options for patients with relapsed or refractory (R/R) classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) after brentuximab vedotin (Bv) and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) are limited.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Systems biology drug screening identifies statins as enhancers of current therapies in chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a B lymphoid malignancy highly dependent on the microenvironment. Despite new targeted therapies such as ibrutinib and venetoclax, disease progression and relapse remain an issue.

A Combination of Two Human Monoclonal Antibodies Limits Fetal Damage by Zika Virus in Macaques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Human infection by Zika virus (ZIKV) during pregnancy can lead to vertical transmission and fetal aberrations, including microcephaly. Prophylactic administration of antibodies can diminish or prevent ZIKV infection in animal models, but whether passive ...

Class-switched anti-insulin antibodies originate from unconventional antigen presentation in multiple lymphoid sites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Autoantibodies to insulin are a harbinger of autoimmunity in type 1 diabetes in humans and in non-obese diabetic mice. To understand the genesis of these autoantibodies, we investigated the interactions of insulin-specific T and B lymphocytes using T ...
