Updates on Lymphovascular Invasion in Breast Cancer

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2023
Traditionally, lymphovascular invasion (LVI) has represented one of the foremost pathological features of malignancy and has been associated with a worse prognosis in different cancers, including breast carcinoma.

Lymphovascular Invasion in Colorectal Cancer: An Interobserver Variability Study [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2014
Background: Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) in colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered a strong stage-independent prognostic factor and influences decisions regarding adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with Stage II tumors.

Primary testicular carcinoid tumor with marked lymphovascular invasion [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pathology and Translational Medicine, 2021
Testicular carcinoid tumors are very rare, accounting for less than 1% of all testicular tumors. We report a rare case of a testicular carcinoid tumor with extensive lymphatic invasion. A 42-year-old man presented with a painless, enlarged right testicular mass. There was no history of injury or discomfort in this region.

Genomic spectra of lymphovascular invasion in breast cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesChin J Cancer Res
Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) is a crucial step in metastasis and is closely associated with poor prognosis in patients with breast cancer. However, its clinical and molecular characteristics remain insufficiently defined. We aimed to identify molecular targets for LVI-positive (LVI+) breast cancer and predict patient prognosis via the analysis of ...

Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Lymphovascular Invasion in Invasive Breast Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesPathobiology, 2015
Lymphovascular invasion (LVI), the presence of malignant cells within lymphovascular channels, is a crucial step in the invasion-metastasis cascade. LVI, when identified morphologically in the peritumoural area, is regarded as an indicator of metastatic potential and is strongly associated with a poor prognosis in many solid tumours, including breast ...

Long‐term prognosis is associated with residual disease after neoadjuvant systemic therapy but not with initial nodal status

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
This long‐term follow‐up study determined survival rates in a Swedish national cohort of 417 patients with breast cancer who all had neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NAST). Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) was performed before NAST in clinically node‐negative and after NAST in clinically node‐positive patients.

Lymphovascular Invasion and the Decision for Postmastectomy Radiation Therapy: A Cautionary Case Report

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2019
Summary:. Breast reconstruction is frequently adversely affected by postmastectomy radiation therapy. Some radiation therapists recommend postmastectomy radiation therapy based on the finding of lymphovascular invasion in the context of other findings ...

Clinicopathological Profile of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma—Could We Predict Aggressive Behavior?

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2023
Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) accounts for only 2–5% of all thyroid malignancies. Clinical and pathological characteristics alone may suffice to predict outcomes, but unstable behavior in some cases suggests that other factors may influence a worse ...

Concomitant Carcinoma in situ in Cystectomy Specimens Is Not Associated with Clinical Outcomes after Surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Objective: The aim of this study was to externally validate the prognostic value of concomitant urothelial carcinoma in situ (CIS) in radical cystectomy (RC) specimens using a large international cohort of bladder cancer patients. Methods: The records of
