Prognostic Value of the Width of Invasion in pT3 Cutaneous Melanomas

open access: yesInternational Journal of Translational Medicine, 2023
Intermediate-thickness melanomas display highly variable outcomes influenced by both clinical and histopathological characteristics. This study investigates several clinicopathological prognostic factors for pT3 cutaneous melanomas, focusing on a novel ...

Adverse prognostic and predictive significance of low DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs) expression in early-stage breast cancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs), a serine threonine kinase belonging to the PIKK family (phosphoinositide 3-kinase-like-family of protein kinase), is a critical component of the non-homologous end joining (NHEJ ...

Genomic and protein expression analysis reveals flap endonuclease 1 (FEN1) as a key biomarker in breast and ovarian cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
FEN1 has key roles in Okazaki fragment maturation during replication, long patch base excision repair, rescue of stalled replication forks, maintenance of telomere stability and apoptosis.

Influence of perineural invasion in predicting overall survival and disease-free survival in patients With locally advanced gastric cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prognostic significance of perineural invasion (PNI) in locally advanced gastric cancer patients who underwent D2 gastrectomy and adjuvant chemotherapy.

High LRIG1 expression predicts lymph node metastasis in patients with uterine cervical cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Lymph node status is crucial in determining treatment for women with early‐stage cervical cancer. We demonstrate that high LRIG1 protein expression in primary tumors can predict lymph node metastases. Our findings support further investigation of LRIG1 as a biomarker to improve staging accuracy and guide treatment decisions in cervical cancer patients.

Characterization of Microplastics in Human Gastric Cancer and Control Tissues and Analysis of Associated Genetic Features

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the presence of microplastics in human normal gastric, para‐tumor, and gastric tumor tissue and confirms the association between microplastic exposure and lymph node metastasis in gastric cancer. This study explores the transcriptomic changes induced by microplastic exposure, laying the foundation for further investigation into
