Targeted Lipid Analysis of Haemolytic Mycelial Extracts of Aspergillus niger

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
Ethanolic extracts of mycelia from Aspergillus niger (strain N402) grown in liquid media were observed to have haemolytic activity on bovine erythrocytes. This haemolytic activity decreased significantly during the time of growth (1–3 days).

Lysophosphatidylcholine Synthesis by Lipase-catalyzed Ethanolysis

open access: yesJournal of Oleo Science, 2015
Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) is amphiphilic substance, and possesses excellent physiological functions. In this study, LPC was prepared through ethanolysis of phosphatidylcholine (PC) in n-hexane or solvent free media catalyzed by Novozym 435 (from Candida antarctica), Lipozyme TLIM (from Thermomcyces lanuginosus) and Lipozyme RMIM (from Rhizomucor ...

Plasma Metabolomic Changes following PI3K Inhibition as Pharmacodynamic Biomarkers: Preclinical Discovery to Phase I Trial Evaluation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PI3K plays a key role in cellular metabolism and cancer. Using a mass spectrometry-based metabolomics platform, we discovered that plasma concentrations of 26 metabolites, including amino acids, acylcarnitines, and phosphatidylcholines, were decreased in

Co-Transplantation of Human Neurotrophic Factor Secreting Cells and Adipose-Derived Stem Cells in Rat Model of Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesCell Journal, 2018
Objective The presence of neurotrophic factors is critical for regeneration of neural lesions. Here, we transplanted combination of neurotrophic factor secreting cells (NTF-SCs) and human adipose derived stem cells (hADSCs) into a lysolecithin model of ...

Metabolomics guides rational development of a simplified cell culture medium for drug screening against Trypanosoma brucei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
n vitro culture methods underpin many experimental approaches to biology and drug discovery. The modification of established cell culture methods to make them more biologically relevant or to optimize growth is traditionally a laborious task.

Deciphering the catalytic and pharmacological mechanisms of Coptis chinensis herbzymes to renovate intestinal microenvironment for colitis alleviation

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The synthesized CCzymes possess both antioxidant enzyme activity and pharmacological properties inherent to Coptis chinensis. By their antioxidant enzyme activity, CCzymes can attenuate oxidative stress within the inflammatory region of ulcerative colitis (UC), while their pharmacological activity acts on macrophage polarization and the intestinal ...

Lipidomic and metabolomic characterization of a genetically modified mouse model of the early stages of human type 1 diabetes pathogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The early mechanisms regulating progression towards beta cell failure in type 1 diabetes (T1D) are poorly understood, but it is generally acknowledged that genetic and environmental components are involved. The metabolomic phenotype is sensitive to minor

Annual Banned‐Substance Review 18th Edition—Analytical Approaches in Human Sports Drug Testing 2024/2025

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
New insights into drug metabolism, distribution, elimination, and detection assays for drugs and methods of sports doping published between 2024 and 2025 are critically reviewed and evaluated in context with the Prohibited List 2025 as established by the World Anti‐Doping Agency.

Mature Dendritic Cell Generation Promoted by Lysophosphatidylcholine [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2002
Abstract During the acute phase response, the interplay between high density lipoproteins and low density lipoproteins (LDL) favors transient generation of oxidized LDL with proinflammatory activities. We hypothesized that oxidative modification of LDL is an endogenous signal for the immune system, and we have shown that oxidized LDL ...

Multi-Omics Analyses Detail Metabolic Reprogramming in Lipids, Carnitines, and Use of Glycolytic Intermediates between Prostate Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma and Prostate Adenocarcinoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
As the most common cancer in men, prostate cancer is molecularly heterogeneous. Contributing to this heterogeneity are the poorly understood metabolic adaptations of the two main types of prostate cancer, i.e., adenocarcinoma and small cell ...
