Seismic moment tensor catalog for Uturuncu volcano, Bolivia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present seismic moment tensor solutions for 63 events at Uturuncu volcano, Bolivia. Moment tensor solutions were generated using body waves and surface waves.

Quasi‐Single‐Mode Polaritonic Crystal for Hyperbolic Phonon‐Polaritons

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Near‐field study of the polaritonic Fourier crystal with α‐MoO3 reveals that the hyperbolic phonon‐polaritons within the Type‐I Reststrahlen band may form a quasi‐single‐mode Bloch wave where only the fundamental mode propagates in the crystal. Our results demonstrate the realization of a quasi‐single‐mode regime for the inherently multimode hyperbolic

The Consequences of Assuming m=0 for Global Model-Fitting

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2003
A recent re-analysis of Whole Earth Telescope observations of GD 358 obtained in 1990 suggest that asteroseismology of additional DBV white dwarfs can lead to independent constraints on the important, but poorly determined, 12C(α, γ)16O nuclear reaction ...

Photonics of Topological Magnetic Textures

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Localized noncollinear magetic textures imprint their geometry and topology onto traversing photonic fields endowing them with orbital angular‐momentum, chirality, and magnetoelectric densities. Abstract Topological textures in magnetically ordered materials are an important case studies for fundamental research with promising applications in data ...

Expandable Nanocomposite Shape‐Memory Hemostat for the Treatment of Noncompressible Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanocomposite‐coated shape memory foam rapidly expands, accelerates clotting, and reduces blood loss in vivo. Its fast volumetric expansion and strong procoagulant activity make it a promising hemostat for treating deep, noncompressible hemorrhage.

Promoting Treg Polarization‐Mediated Anti‐Scar and Appendage Regeneration in Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a PLGA@LA‐BMP4‐PG bilayer scaffold to address scar formation and appendage loss in skin repair. The piezoelectric PLA layer enhances cell migration via electric fields, while GelMA delivers LA promoting Tregs polarization and BMP4 inhibiting FBs differentiation.

Foundation Model‐Enabled Multimodal Deep Learning for Prognostic Prediction in Colorectal Cancer with Incomplete Modalities: A Multi‐Institutional Retrospective Study

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FLARE, a multimodal AI framework, combines pathology slides, radiology scans, and clinical reports to predict colorectal cancer outcomes, even when some tests are missing. Evaluated retrospectively in 1679 patients from four medical centers, it consistently achieved the best prognostic accuracy and clearly separated high‐ and low‐risk groups.

Multiple-event analysis of the 2018 ML 6.2 Hualien earthquake using source time functions

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2019
Through forward multiple-event analysis of teleseismic P-waves using source time functions (STFs), derived by non-negative time-domain deconvolution, we inferred the rupture features of the 2018 Hualien earthquake.

A Self‐Organized Liquid Reaction Container for Cellular Memory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How cells restore epigenetic information lost during replication is not known. This work proposes a mechanism based on the formation of biomolecular condensates. These condensates are induced by the chromosome itself and serve as reaction vessels for reconstructing missing epigenetic markers.
