A perturbative expansion scheme for supermembrane and matrix theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We reconsider the supermembrane in a Minkowski background and in the light-cone gauge as a one-dimensional gauge theory of area preserving diffeomorphisms (APDs).

Supersymmetric M2-brane matrix model with restricted volume-preserving deformations: Lorentz covariance and BPS spectrum

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We present a novel supersymmetric Lorentz-covariant matrix model for M2-branes in M-theory, constructed via the framework of Restricted Volume-Preserving Deformations (RVPD) which is a residual symmetry from gauge-fixed volume-preserving diffeomorphisms.

Fixing an ambiguity in two dimensional string theory using string field theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
In a recent paper, Balthazar, Rodriguez and Yin found some remarkable agreement between the results of c = 1 matrix model and D-instanton corrections in two dimensional string theory.

Twisted Bundle On Quantum Torus and BPS States in Matrix Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Following the recent work of Connes, Douglas and Schwarz, we study the M(atrix) model compactified on a torus with a background of the three-form field. This model is given by a super Yang-Mills theory on a quantum torus.

A comment on the R4-coupling in (M)atrix theory [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1998
By scaling arguments we show that the presence of a $R^4$-term in the eleven dimensional supergravity effective lagrangian, if it is visible in (M)atrix theory, should produce a correction to the five-loops effective lagrangian of two moving D0-branes.

Exact lattice bosonization of finite N matrix quantum mechanics and c = 1

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We describe a new exact lattice bosonization of matrix quantum mechanics (equivalently of non-relativistic fermions) that is valid for arbitrary rank N of the matrix.

Spherical transverse M5-branes from the plane wave matrix model

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We consider matrix theoretical description of transverse M5-branes in M-theory on the 11-dimensional maximally supersymmetric pp-wave background. We apply the localization to the plane wave matrix model (PWMM) and show that the transverse spherical ...

Entanglement in the Quantum Hall Matrix Model

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
Characterizing the entanglement of matrix degrees of freedom is essential for understanding the holographic emergence of spacetime. The Quantum Hall Matrix Model is a gauged U(N ) matrix quantum mechanics with two matrices whose ground state is known ...

Compactification of M(atrix) theory on noncommutative toroidal orbifolds [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2000
It was shown by A. Connes, M. Douglas and A. Schwarz that noncommutative tori arise naturally in consideration of toroidal compactifications of M(atrix) theory. A similar analysis of toroidal Z_{2} orbifolds leads to the algebra B_θ that can be defined as a crossed product of noncommutative torus and the group Z_{2}.

Collective field theory of gauged multi-matrix models: integrating out off-diagonal strings

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study a two-matrix toy model with a BFSS-like interaction term using the collective field formalism. The main technical simplification is obtained by gauge-fixing first, and integrating out the off-diagonal elements, before changing to the collective ...
