Isodesmic Supramolecular Assembly of Phenylethynylene Bis‐Urea Macrocycles

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A soluble phenylethynylene bis‐urea macrocycle assembles in polar media via an isodesmic hydrogen bonded mechanism. Spectroscopic and morphological studies reveal nanoscale aggregates with short chain length, while guest additives modulate enthalpy and polymerization, demonstrating tunable supramolecular assembly.

Rationales for the Choice of Metals for Super‐Reduced Biological Metal Centers: Cobalt in Cobalamin Versus Nickel in F430

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
DFT calculations on porphyrin, corrin, and corphin complexes of cobalt, rhodium, iron, manganese, or nickel, and QM/MM calculations on enzyme models, explore the factors controlling the availably of super‐reduced metal(I) states. True metal(I) states are seen in corrin only for cobalt, in corphin only for nickel, and not at all in porphyrin.

Exploring Calixarene‐Based Pseudorotaxane Architectures: Threading Ammonium Axles With an Exo‐Rim π‐Functionalized Calix[6]Arene Macrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel 1,4‐π‐functionalized calix[6]arene with enhanced interactions with dialkylammonium axles. We investigate threading behavior in CDCl3, highlighting how exo‐rim π‐functionalization affects binding affinity and stereoselectivity.

Metal‐Ion Regulated Light‐Free Z→E Isomerization of Azobenzene Glycomacrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Metal ion‐catalyzed Z→E isomerization of photoswitchable azobenzene glycomacrocycle: A new azobenzene‐based glycomacrocycle is capable of forming a 1:1 complex with divalent metal ions in both E‐ and Z‐isomers. The complexes undergo light‐free Z→E isomerization in a timescale spanning from seconds to weeks.

A Thermally Robust Luminescent Antimony Halide for Real‐Time Detection of Volatile Iodine at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Zero‐dimensional antimony halides drive efficient iodine capture through electron transfer and display rapid fluorescence quenching at 75°C (348 K), establishing the first luminescent sensor for real‐time I2 detection at elevated temperatures. ABSTRACT Real‐time monitoring of volatile molecular iodine (I2), a hazardous radioactive byproduct of nuclear ...

A Self‐Enhanced Tandem Catalytic System for Olefin‐to‐Diol Conversion Powered by Single‐Atom Fe Catalysts With In Situ Generated Acid

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A single‐atom iron catalyst with well‐defined Fe–N4 sites enables a tandem epoxidation‐hydrolysis process for converting terminal olefins to 1,2‐diols. The in situ‐generated isobutyric acid drives the hydrolysis step, affording broad substrate scope and excellent recyclability.

d‐Orbital Electron Spin Polarization Field Inhibits Photo‐Generated Carrier Recombination for Panel Photoelectrocatalysis

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A solution‐processable sub‐nanocrystal of metal coordinated conjugated reticular oligomer with spin polarization functionality is employed as an active layer in planar photoelectrochemical water splitting. The rapid recombination of photo‐generated carriers remains a critical challenge limiting the photo‐electrocatalytic water splitting performance in ...

Fluorescence Behavior of Water‐Soluble Porphyrins Immobilized on LTA Zeolite and Its Chlorogenic Acid Polyphenol Sensing in Coffee Wastewater

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
During coffee bean and cherry washing, contaminants are released into water, making this process a major source of water pollution. Chlorogenic acid can be efficiently detected using hybrid zeolite–porphyrin materials by measuring fluorescence quenching, achieving detection limits lower than current regulatory thresholds.

Catalytic Antioxidant Activity of Acyclic and Macrocyclic Selenides: Insights Into Structure–Activity Relationships and Mechanisms From Kinetic and Computational Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Structure–activity relationships of antioxidant activities of selenides were established by experimental and computational methods. Several structures displayed strong catalytic activity in an NMR‐based assay. Diverse selenides were shown to act as potent catalytic antioxidants.
