Atroposelective Access to Bicyclic Peptides via an Amide Photocaging Strategy
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.Ansamers are an atypical class of atropisomers (Pansa/Mansa) and stereoselective synthesis of its two conformational isomers is challenging. We introduce a photocaged amide protection strategy: photolabile groups in monocycles reversibly modulate amide geometry, biasing macrolactamization to selectively give Pansa or Mansa.

Biocatalysts for Peptide Geranylation With Linear and Cyclic Prenyl Groups
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.A combination of genome mining, synthetic biology, and biocatalytic assays revealed enzymes that install linear and cyclized prenyl moieties on ribosomally or chemically synthesized peptides. The promiscuity of both enzymes, while being specific for modification of C‐terminal tryptophans, enables enzymatic access to peptide terpenoid hybrids.
