One host, two recognition modes: a naphthalenediimide–imidazolium macrocycle switches between π‐driven encapsulation and hydrogen‐bonding to bind structurally diverse molecular and metal‐complex guests. ABSTRACT A naphthalenediimide‐imidazolium macrocycle is shown to function as a dual‐site supramolecular host for orthogonal molecular recognition.

Benzylic Oxidation of Pillar[5]Arene: From Homo‐ to Cross‐Conjugated Macrocyclic Systems

Selective benzylic oxidations of pillar[5]arene have been carried out to generate all the possible oxidized derivatives containing from one up to five carbonyl subunits. Effects resulting from the homo‐ and the cross‐conjugation within this series of compounds have been investigated in details and analyzed with the help of DFT calculations.

Synthesis and Characterization of Hemiindigo‐Based Glycoside and Glycomacrocycle

Glycosyl hemiindigos: we have synthesized hemiindigo‐functionalized glycoside and glycomacrocycle which are photoswitchable under visible light irradiation with high photoconversion yield and fluorescence emission property in acetonitrile. The conformational constrained glycomacrocycle displayed more efficient photoisomerization.

Chiral cycloparaarylenes (CPAs) incorporating binaphthyl units were synthesized. The methoxy‐substituted and methylenedioxy‐bridged systems adopt D3‐ and C3/C1‐symmetric structures, respectively. They exhibited distinct solid‐state emission and aggregation‐induced emission enhancement (AIEE).
