Exploring Calixarene‐Based Pseudorotaxane Architectures: Threading Ammonium Axles With an Exo‐Rim π‐Functionalized Calix[6]Arene Macrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel 1,4‐π‐functionalized calix[6]arene with enhanced interactions with dialkylammonium axles. We investigate threading behavior in CDCl3, highlighting how exo‐rim π‐functionalization affects binding affinity and stereoselectivity.

Characterization of the Interaction of Known G‐quadruplex Ligands With a Minimal i‐Motif Structure

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The destabilization of a minimal i‐Motif (iM) structure by TMPyP4 is driven by ligand recognition of one terminal iM structural domain. ABSTRACT Peculiar genomic regions are prone to evolve transiently from double‐helix DNA to noncanonical secondary structures in response to physiological stress.

Metal‐Ion Regulated Light‐Free Z→E Isomerization of Azobenzene Glycomacrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Metal ion‐catalyzed Z→E isomerization of photoswitchable azobenzene glycomacrocycle: A new azobenzene‐based glycomacrocycle is capable of forming a 1:1 complex with divalent metal ions in both E‐ and Z‐isomers. The complexes undergo light‐free Z→E isomerization in a timescale spanning from seconds to weeks.

Ligand‐Level Chemical Activation: Coordination with Benefits

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
While often perceived as a liability, ligand‐based reactivity in carefully designed settings becomes a powerful synthetic tool. The key to streamlined processes overriding classical ionic reactivity is the selective electron redistribution induced by metal coordination. This enables storage of electrons and protons or incorporation of functional groups

Diaryl Thiourea Catalysts Promote the Formation of Propargyl Enol Ethers in the Claisen Rearrangement Sequence

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The allenyl ketone products of an enol ether formation–propargyl Claisen rearrangement sequence are susceptible to acid‐catalyzed isomerization to yield the corresponding conjugated dienones. A diaryl thiourea catalyst was found to promote the desired reaction sequence while suppressing the competing isomerization.

Catalytic Antioxidant Activity of Acyclic and Macrocyclic Selenides: Insights Into Structure–Activity Relationships and Mechanisms From Kinetic and Computational Studies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Structure–activity relationships of antioxidant activities of selenides were established by experimental and computational methods. Several structures displayed strong catalytic activity in an NMR‐based assay. Diverse selenides were shown to act as potent catalytic antioxidants.

Total Synthesis of Sacrolide A and Cytotoxic Evaluation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Isolated from the edible cyanobacterium Aphanothece sacrum, sacrolide A is a highly potent antimicrobial and cytotoxic metabolite. Its total synthesis via a convergent strategy enabled accurate assessment of its effects on liver and colon cells, offering new insights into its bioactivity and potential health risks.

Metal‐Free Ligand‐Centered Radical Scavenging in Pyridine‐Modified Tetraaza Macrocycles

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Ligand‐centered hydrogen‐atom transfer in pyridinophane macrocycles generates delocalized radicals, with Py2N2 enabling cooperative captodative stabilization and enhanced DPPH• quenching. Pyridine‐modified tetraaza macrocycles are widely studied as ligand platforms for metal coordination, yet their intrinsic redox and radical reactivity in the absence ...
