Macrophage migration inhibitory factor inhibits osteoclastogenesis
Bone, 2009MIF is an important regulator of innate and adaptive immunity, which is produced by a variety of cell types including activated T cells and macrophages. We examined the effects of MIF on osteoclastogenesis in bone marrow (BM) cultures from WT and MIF-deficient (KO) mice as well as the bone mass of MIF KO mice.

Neuroimmunomodulation by Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF)
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1998Abstract: Recent studies have led to the discovery of a mediator that appears to act as an endogenous hormone to counterregulate glucocorticoid action within the immune system. Isolated as a product of anterior pituitary cells, the structure of this protein was found to be that of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF)‐one of the first cytokines

Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor in Human Pregnancy and Labor
American Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2002PROBLEM: Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a proinflammatory cytokine involved in reproduction. Presently there is no information on the possible involvement of MIF in the onset of labor.METHODS: Macrophage migration inhibitory factor was assayed, by enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), in maternal serum (MS) and amniotic fluid (AF)

Co-Immunoprecipitation of Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor
2019Immunoprecipitation is a technique which enables a macromolecule of interest to be isolated from heterogenous mixtures (particularly cell lysates). However, the immunoprecipitation of protein(s) can be challenging, with multiple variations of the basic technique required for successful antigenic pull-down.
