Molecular characterization and antiviral effects of canine interferon regulatory factor 1 (CaIRF1)

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2022
Background Interferon regulatory factor 1 (IRF1) is an important transcription factor that activates the type I interferon (IFN-I) response and plays a vital role in the antiviral immune response.

Differential sensitivity of Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells to epinephrine

open access: yesThe Journal of nutrition, health and aging, 2016
Catecholamines regulate a variety of cellular functions in the mammalian kidney. The present study was aimed to investigate the differential sensitivity of Madin-Darby Kidney Cells (MDCK cells) to epinephrine in a dose-dependent manner. The loss of adhesion and altered cell shape were observed in MDCK cells.

TGN38 recycles basolaterally in polarized Madin-Darby canine kidney cells. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Biology of the Cell, 1994
Sorting of newly synthesized plasma membrane proteins to the apical or basolateral surface domains of polarized cells is currently thought to take place within the trans-Golgi network (TGN). To explore the relationship between protein localization to the TGN and sorting to the plasma membrane in polarized epithelial cells, we have expressed constructs

Comparison of Human and Canine P‐Glycoprotein Substrates at R, P, and H Binding Sites

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Volume 49, Issue 2, Page 120-130, March 2026.
ABSTRACT P‐glycoprotein (P‐gp) greatly impacts substrate drug disposition, so much so that regulatory agencies recommend ascertaining the P‐gp status of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) intended for human use. Arguably, the P‐gp status of drugs intended for canine patients is equally, if not more, important.

Polymethoxylated N‐Carboranyl Isoquinolinones: A New Scaffold for ABCG2 Inhibitors

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 3, 12 February 2026.
Combinations of a boron‐based clusters (carborane) and polymethoxy group patterns are crucial to overcome ABCG2‐mediated multidrug resistance in cancer cells. (Created in BioRender. Kuhnert, L. (2025) https://BioRender.com/h4cnh5m). ABCG2‐mediated multidrug resistance (MDR) is a major challenge among chemotherapeutic treatments of colon, pancreatic ...

The Effect of Chemical Treatment Conditions of Titanium Dioxide Sols on Their Dispersion and Cytotoxic Properties

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2012
The effect of neutralization conditions of TiO2 acid sol obtained by hydrolysis of titanium tetraisopropoxide (the nature of monovalent cation (Li+, Na+, NH4+) of electrolyte, chemical nature of a dialyzing solution, and surface modification of ...

Evaluating the Antiviral Efficacy of Encapsulated PKC Inhibitor BIM‐I against influenza A Virus Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 8, 23 February 2026.
This study explores nanoparticle delivery of the protein kinase C inhibitor bisindolylmaleimide‐I (BIM‐I) to combat influenza A virus infections. Encapsulation in biodegradable PLGA nanoparticles improved safety while maintaining the compound's strong antiviral activity.

Parathyroid hormone-stimulated cadmium accumulation in Madin-Darby canine kidney cells

open access: yesToxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1991
Although most renal cadmium transport occurs in proximal tubules indirect evidence suggests that distal tubules may also transport this heavy metal. Since the distal nephron is the site at which parathyroid hormone (PTH) regulates calcium absorption, we evaluated the effects of PTH on Cd2+ accumulation in Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells.

The Space Within: How Architected Voids Promote Tissue Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 7, 2 February 2026.
This review explores the role of void spaces in tissue engineering scaffolds and examines four key methods for introducing porosity into hydrogels at different scales. It discusses sacrificial templating, microgels, phase separation, and 3D printing, highlighting principles, advantages, and limitations. It also addresses emerging strategies integrating
