There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

Multi-solute solid solution behavior and its effect on the properties of magnesium alloys
The low-density magnesium (Mg) alloys are attractive for the application in aerospace, transportation and other weight-saving-required fields. The mechanical properties and corrosion properties of Mg alloys are the key-property issues for the wide ...

Effect of Anodizing Parameters on Corrosion Resistance of Coated Purified Magnesium [PDF]
Magnesium and its alloys are being considered for biodegradable biomaterials. However, high and uncontrollable corrosion rates have limited the use of magnesium and its alloys in biological environments. In this research, high purified magnesium (HP-Mg) was coated with stearic acid in order to improve the corrosion resistance of magnesium.

Microglia act as tumor suppressors during brain metastasis colonization but shift to a tumor‐promoting role after melanoma brain metastases form. NF‐κB/RelA signaling emerges as a key driver of this phenotypic shift. Targeting this pathway reprograms microglia into a pro‐inflammatory state, enhancing antitumor immunity and immune checkpoint inhibitor ...

B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

It was shown by Meltzer and Auer in 1905 that the primary effect of magnesium upon the nerve cells is that of paralysis without any preceding excitation. The effect seemed to be exclusively of an inhibitory character. They injected subcutaneously into rabbits varying amounts of a 25 per cent solution of magnesium sulphate.

Targeted protein degradation in oncology: novel therapeutic opportunity for solid tumours?
Current anticancer therapies are limited by the occurrence of resistance and undruggability of most proteins. Targeted protein degraders are novel, promising agents that trigger the selective degradation of previously undruggable proteins through the recruitment of the ubiquitin–proteasome machinery. Their mechanism of action raises exciting challenges,

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Effect of Gd content on the microstructure, texture and mechanical properties of Mg-xGd-0.5Mn alloys
In this work, we investigated the microstructure and the mechanical properties of extruded Mg-xGd-0.5Mn alloys (GMx0) with the variation of Gd content (0, 2, 4, 7 wt.%).

Breast cancer metastasis is associated with myeloid cell dysregulation and the lung‐specific accumulation of tumor‐supportive Gr1+ cells. Gr1+ cells support metastasis, in part, through a CHI3L1‐mediated mechanism, which can be targeted and inhibited with cargo‐free, polymeric nanoparticles.
