In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Investigating the role of solvent extraction in altering pH levels for efficient Neodymium extraction from magnet scrap [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal
Recycling rare earth elements, specifically neodymium from magnet scrap, is crucial for advancing sustainable technologies across various industries. In this research, neodymium was recovered by solvent extraction using a stock solution prepared in 200 ...

A four-coordinate cobalt(II) single-ion magnet with coercivity and a very high energy barrier

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Single-molecule magnets display magnetic bistability of molecular origin, which may one day be exploited in magnetic data storage devices. Recently it was realised that increasing the magnetic moment of polynuclear molecules does not automatically lead ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Research on the Airflow and Thermal Performance in a Large Forced Air-Cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, the airflow and temperature distribution characteristics of a 1.65MW permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) adopting a totally enclosed self-circulation (TESC) axial ventilation system (AVS) are studied by numerical methods.

Tumor and germline testing with next generation sequencing in epithelial ovarian cancer: a prospective paired comparison using an 18‐gene panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Genetic testing in epithelial ovarian cancer includes both germline and tumor‐testing. This approach often duplicates resources. The current prospective study assessed the feasibility of tumor‐first multigene testing by comparing tumor tissue with germline testing of peripheral blood using an 18‐gene NGS panel in 106 patients.

Fringe Field Effects on Bending Magnets, Derived for TRANSPORT/TURTLE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A realistic magnetic dipole has complex effects on a charged particle near the entrance and exit of the magnet, even with a constant and uniform magnetic field deep within the interior of the magnet.

Energy Deposition Studies for the Hi-Lumi LHC Inner Triplet Magnets

open access: yes, 2015
A detailed model of the High Luminosity LHC inner triplet region with new large-aperture Nb3Sn magnets, field maps, corrector packages, and segmented tungsten inner absorbers was built and implemented into the FLUKA and MARS15 codes.

Estimation of Saturation of Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motors Through an Energy-Based Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We propose a parametric model of the saturated Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) together with an estimation method of the magnetic parameters. The model is based on an energy function which simply encompasses the saturation effects. Injection of
