COVID-19 knowledge, beliefs, prevention behaviours and misinformation in the context of an adapted seasonal malaria chemoprevention campaign in six northern Nigerian States

open access: yesTropical Medicine and Health, 2020
Background Seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) using sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine and amodiaquine is an efficacious intervention for protection of children against Plasmodium falciparum malaria during the rainy season.

Delivery of seasonal malaria chemoprevention with enhanced infection prevention and control measures during the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Chad: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2022
Background Seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) is a WHO-recommended intervention for children aged 3–59 months living in areas of high malaria transmission to provide protection against malaria during the rainy season.

Ranking malaria risk factors to guide malaria control efforts in African highlands. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
INTRODUCTION: Malaria is re-emerging in most of the African highlands exposing the non immune population to deadly epidemics. A better understanding of the factors impacting transmission in the highlands is crucial to improve well targeted malaria ...

ALKBH5‐Mediated M6A Demethylation of G3BP1 Attenuates Ferroptosis Via Cytoplasmic Retention of YBX1/p53 in Diabetic Myocardial Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ALKBH5 promoted G3BP1 expression via m⁶A methylation at sites 142/173. G3BP1 interacts with YBX1 and p53, reducing their nuclear translocation and decreasing p53‐mediated SLC7A11 repression. This inhibites cardiomyocyte ferroptosis and mitigates myocardial damage during diabetic ischemia‐reperfusion injury.

Small Molecule‐Induced Alterations of Protein Polyubiquitination Revealed by Mass‐Spectrometric Ubiquitome Analysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
To monitor small molecule‐induced changes in protein polyubiquitination in an unbiased manner, we employ enrichment through tandem ubiquitin binding entities coupled to LC‐MS/MS analysis (TUBE‐MS). By applying the workflow to PROTAC, p97‐ and deubiquitinase‐inhibitor treatment of cells, we demonstrate its broad applicability and reveal the induction of

Synthesis of Chirally Chimeric Protein Nanoparticle Vaccines via Mirror‐Image Spy Chemistry

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study illustrates a versatile strategy for creating chirally chimeric protein constructs by merging natural‐chirality (L‐) and mirror‐image (D‐) protein motifs through a combination of L‐sortase‐mediated transpeptidation and D‐SpyStapler‐mediated ligation.

Epidemiological risk factors for clinical malaria infection in the highlands of Western Kenya. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundUnderstanding the complex heterogeneity of risk factors that can contribute to an increased risk of malaria at the individual and household level will enable more effective use of control measures.

Ecology: a prerequisite for malaria elimination and eradication [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
* Existing front-line vector control measures, such as insecticide-treated nets and residual sprays, cannot break the transmission cycle of Plasmodium falciparum in the most intensely endemic parts of Africa and the Pacific * The goal of malaria ...
