The principal arboviral vector Aedes aegypti can develop in coastal brackish water field habitats (0.5–15 g/L salt) with larvae possessing thicker cuticles and greater resistance to the larvicide Temephos. Females emerging from brackish water‐developing preimaginal stages are now shown to have thicker and remodelled leg and abdominal cuticles and ...

Engineered Metal–Organic Frameworks‐Based Materials for Environmental Detection
Engineered metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) regulated by various material modification strategies are discussed for environmental contaminant detection under different sensing mechanisms, providing future improvements of MOFs in environmental detection. Sensitive and selective detection of contaminants is crucial for environmental protection.

Integrated GWAS and transcriptomics in a Canadian waterhemp biotype reveal mesotrione resistance is polygenic and metabolically driven. Significant SNPs and 187 herbicide‐responsive genes point to enhanced redox homeostasis, glutathione‐linked detoxification, lipid/secondary metabolism, and oxidative stress responses. Resistance arises from coordinated,

A 5000-fold increase in the specificity of a bacterial phosphotriesterase for malathion through combinatorial active site mutagenesis. [PDF]
Phosphotriesterases (PTEs) have been isolated from a range of bacterial species, including Agrobcaterium radiobacter (PTEAr), and are efficient enzymes with broad substrate ranges.

Investigating zeta‐cypermethrin resistance stability in California Drosophila suzukii populations
After continuous selection and removal of selection pressure in spotted‐wing Drosophila, zeta‐cypermethrin resistance remained stable over several generations. Following a population bottleneck, zeta‐cypermethrin resistance increased without selection, highlighting the importance of insecticide rotation.

Unusual manifestations after malathion poisoning
We report a case of organophosphate poisoning with a commercial preparation of malathion (deliberate ingestion of Malathane Garden Spray: malathion 15% in isopropyl alcohol) in which the initial cholinergic crisis was followed by cardiac, pulmonary ...
