Maize Prolonged Prophase 1 is essential for meiotic progression in pollen mother cells
Meiosis, a critical process for sexual reproduction, requires precise regulation to ensure the correct progression of meiotic stages. In yeast and animals, errors in meiotic recombination and homologous chromosomes synapsis bring a surveillance mechanism

ABSTRACT Features of the reproductive organs, such as the number of testicular follicles, testis colour and the morphology of the glands, can be used as systematic characters. For this purpose, this paper was the first description of the male reproductive system anatomy and histology of Hypera postica (Gyllenhal, 1813) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), a ...

In Neurospora crassa, a cytosolic GH18 endo‐β‐n‐acetylglucosaminidase (ENGase) functions as an active deglycosylating enzyme. Deletion of this severely alters tolerance to multiple stress conditions and causes extensive transcriptomic reprogramming, including upregulation of a GH20 exo‐β‐n‐acetylhexosaminidase under ER stress, indicating that N. crassa

The generation of haploid gametes is a hallmark of sexual reproduction achieved through a complex, albeit tightly regulated, reductional cell division known as meiosis. While the molecular underpinnings of meiosis have been extensively characterized in eutherian mammalian models, key aspects-particularly those governing chromosome synapsis and ...

The C. elegans Shu complex (RFS‐1/RIP‐1/SWS‐1) is a DNA‐dependent ATPase that regulates RAD‐51 filaments during homologous recombination. The trimer preferentially binds 5′‐exposed DNA, remodels RAD‐51 filaments via ATP hydrolysis, and stabilizes filaments through ATP binding.

FTO regulates mRNA stability and translational efficiency through its m6A‐demethylation activity. GSK3 functions as an upstream regulator of FTO, leading to its inhibition via phosphorylation. In male germ cells, FTO activity is kept in check by GSK3α.

Purpose: In recent years, many genes have been associated with male infertility; however, testing of monogenic forms has not yet been clinically implemented in the diagnosis of severe forms of idiopathic male infertility, as the diagnostic utility has ...
