Preparation of Cellulose‐Based Planar Ag Substrates Synthesised Using Tollens' Process: Steps Towards Green SERS

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
In the aim to prepare green substrates for surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) that exhibit good SERS performance and reproducible SERS signal, cellulose‐based substrates with embedded silver particles were investigated. Ag layers were prepared on various cellulose TLC layers.

Age‐Dependent Finite Element Analysis of Microneedle Penetration into Human Skin: Influence of Insertion Velocity, and Microneedle's Geometry and Material

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the combined effects of microneedle material, geometry, and insertion velocity on insertion force, considering the critical impact of age‐related variations in human skin. The results show that insertion force increases with age due to higher skin stiffness.

Maltose chemoreceptor of Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1975
Strains carrying mutations in the maltose system of Escherichia coli were assayed for maltose taxis, maltose uptake at 1 and 10 muM maltose, and maltose-binding activity released by osmotic shock. An earlier conclusion that the metabolism of maltose is not necessary for chemoreception is extended to include the functioning of maltodextrin phosphorylase,

Photoaffinity labeling coupled to MS to identify peptide biological partners: Secondary reactions, for better or for worse?

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Affinity photolabeling is a smart method to study noncovalent and transient interactions and provide a submolecular picture of the contacts between interacting partners. In this review, we will focus on the identification of peptide partners using photoaffinity labeling coupled to mass spectrometry in different contexts such as in vitro with a

Electrokinetic Manipulations Combined With Direct and Ambient Ionization Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mass spectrometry (MS) is a powerful analytical technique that typically involves sample preparation and online analytical separation before MS detection. Traditional methods often face bottlenecks in sample preparation and analytical separation, despite the rapid detection capabilities of MS.

Sugar Protectants Improve the Thermotolerance and Biocontrol Efficacy of the Biocontrol Yeast, Candida oleophila

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
A variety of sugar compounds have been used as additives to protect various biocontrol yeasts from adverse environmental stresses. However, studies on maltose and lactose as sugar protectants are limited, and their protective effect is not clear.

Preventive Effect of Upland Pigmented Potatoes Against LPS‐Induced Inflammation in THP‐1 Macrophages

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, EarlyView.
The anti‐inflammatory activity of extracts from three commercial potato varieties cultivated upland was investigated on THP‐1 macrophages insulted with LPS. While the chlorogenic acid (CGA)‐rich extract from Kennebec reduced inflammation only at supraphysiological doses, carotenoid‐rich Desirèe and anthocyanin (ACN)‐rich Bleuet decreased TNF‐α, IL‐1β ...
