Neural network based kinematic control of the hyper-redundant snake-like manipulator

open access: yes, 2007
In a sinusoid like curve configuration, the snake-like manipulator (also called snake arm) has a wide range of potential applications for its redundancy to overcome conventional industrial robot's limitation when carrying out a complex task.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Adaptive Control for Underwater Vehicle-Manipulator System based on Fuzzy CMAC Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2009
Underwater Vehicle-Manipulator System (UVMS) is a multi-body system with float base. It is difficult to control the vehicle for its dynamic uncertainty and the multi-joint manipulator’s disturbances.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Separated adaptive control scheme of a rotor-flying manipulator

open access: yes, 2016
Rotor flying manipulator (RFM), a new kind of mobile robot system being composed of a rotor flying robot (RFR) and a (several) manipulator(s), has absorbed great attentions in recent years because it enables a RFR to complete active tasks such as ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...
