D-mannose suppresses the angiogenesis and progression of colorectal cancer

open access: yesActa Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica
Angiogenesis is an important factor influencing the development of solid tumors, and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR2) is a central regulator of angiogenesis.

Complex Determinants in Specific Members of the Mannose Receptor Family Govern Collagen Endocytosis*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2014
Background: Mannose receptor family members are candidate mediators of intracellular collagen degradation. Results: Despite common candidate collagen-binding domains and endocytic capacity throughout the family, only uPARAP/Endo180 and MR internalize ...

A Natural Sweetener‐inducible Genetic Switch Controls Therapeutic Protein Expression in Mammals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a natural sweetener, the psicose‐inducible transgene expression (PURE) system based on an Agrobacterium tumefaciens–derived transcriptional repressor PsiR. The PURE system is highly specific to psicose, being insensitive to other sugars and structurally similar molecules.

Status and future directions of anti-metastatic cancer nanomedicines for the inhibition of cathepsin L [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Angiogenesis, tissue invasion and metastasis in the tumour microenvironment are all critical hallmarks of cancer. Upregulation of cathepsin L plays an important role in angiogenesis and metastasis through its ability to degrade the extracellular matrix ...

Gut–Metabolome–Proteome Interactions in Age‐Related Hearing Loss: Insights from Fecal Microbiota Transplantation and Multi‐Omics Analyses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Germ‐free (GF) mice receiving fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) reveal microbiota‐dependent effects on auditory aging. Integrated metagenomic, metabolomic and proteomic profiling maps gut–inner ear network and highlights 5‐hydroxytryptophan (5‐HTP) as a microbiota‐linked metabolic hub in age‐related hearing loss (ARHL).

Effect of differential N-linked and O-linked mannosylation on recognition of fungal antigens by dendritic cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2007
BackgroundAn experimental approach for improving vaccine efficacy involves targeting antigens to mannose receptors (MRs) on dendritic cells (DCs) and other professional antigen presenting cells.

Distribution of glycan motifs at the surface of midgut cells in the cotton leafworm (Spodoptera littoralis) demonstrated by lectin binding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Glycans are involved in many biological phenomena, including signal transduction, cell adhesion, immune response or differentiation. Although a few papers have reported on the role of glycans in the development and proper functioning of the insect midgut,

GlycoChat Uncovers Glycan–Lectin Circuits in the Tumor Microenvironment of Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aberrant glycosylation drives cancer progression, yet its role in the tumor microenvironment remains unclear. We developed GlycoChat to map glycan–lectin circuits at single‐cell resolution. We discovered that cancer cells induce immunosuppressive macrophage differentiation and impair phagocytosis through interactions with CLEC10A and SIGLEC3 ...
