The N-glycan glycoprotein deglycosylation complex (Gpd) from Capnocytophaga canimorsus deglycosylates human IgG. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2011
C. canimorsus 5 has the capacity to grow at the expenses of glycan moieties from host cells N-glycoproteins. Here, we show that C. canimorsus 5 also has the capacity to deglycosylate human IgG and we analyze the deglycosylation mechanism.

Studies toward New Anti-Cancer Strategies Based on ?-Mannosidase Inhibition

open access: yesCHIMIA, 2010
Changes in the glycosylation pattern of cellular glycoproteins constitute a hallmark in human cancer and influence tumor progression, suggesting that inhibitors of selected glycosidases may control cancer progression.

Structure- and context-based analysis of the GxGYxYP family reveals a new putative class of glycoside hydrolase. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BackgroundGut microbiome metagenomics has revealed many protein families and domains found largely or exclusively in that environment. Proteins containing the GxGYxYP domain are over-represented in the gut microbiota, and are found in Polysaccharide ...

Heterologous expression and biochemical characterization of an α1,2-mannosidase encoded by the Candida albicans MNS1 gene

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2008
Protein glycosylation pathways, commonly found in fungal pathogens, offer an attractive new area of study for the discovery of antifungal targets. In particular, these post-translational modifications are required for virulence and proper cell wall ...

Computational design-of-experiment unveils the conformational reaction coordinate of GH125 α-mannosidases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Conformational analysis of enzyme-catalyzed mannoside hydrolysis has revealed two predominant conformational itineraries through B 2,5 or 3H 4 transitionstate (TS) conformations.

Combined inhibitor free-energy landscape and structural analysis reports on the mannosidase conformational coordinate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Mannosidases catalyze the hydrolysis of a diverse range of polysaccharides and glycoconjugates, and the various sequence-based mannosidase families have evolved ingenious strategies to overcome the stereoelectronic challenges of mannoside chemistry ...

Synthesis of 1,4-imino-L-lyxitols modified at C-5 and their evaluation as inhibitors of GH38 α-mannosidases

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
A synthetic approach to 1,4-imino-L-lyxitols with various modifications at the C-5 position is reported. These imino-L-lyxitol cores were used for the preparation of a series of N-(4-halobenzyl)polyhydroxypyrrolidines.

Structure and kinetic investigation of Streptococcus pyogenes family GH38 alpha-mannosidase.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
BackgroundThe enzymatic hydrolysis of alpha-mannosides is catalyzed by glycoside hydrolases (GH), termed alpha-mannosidases. These enzymes are found in different GH sequence-based families.

Fungal ecological strategies reflected in gene transcription - a case study of two litter decomposers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Microbial communities interplay with their environment through their functional traits that can be a response or an effect on the environment. Here, we explore how a functional trait-the decomposition of organic matter, can be addressed based on genetic ...

Bioinformatic characterisation of genes encoding cell wall degrading enzymes in the Phytophthora parasitica genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND A critical aspect of plant infection by the majority of pathogens is penetration of the plant cell wall. This process requires the production and secretion of a broad spectrum of pathogen enzymes that target and degrade the many complex ...
