Interior Rifting Coupled With Peripheral Subduction in the Rodinia Supercontinent: New Insights From the Tarim Craton

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract After assembly, supercontinents are shaped by internal rifting and peripheral subduction. However, the geodynamic relationship between these two processes and their respective contributions to supercontinent breakup remain poorly understood.

RETURNS TO SORTING AND MARKET TIMING OF ANIMALS WITHIN PENS OF FED CATTLE [PDF]

open access: yes
This research examines returns to cattle feeding operations that sort animals prior to marketing using ultrasound technology. The returns to sorting are between $11 and $25 per head depending on the number of groups the pens into which cattle can be ...

Block‐in‐Matrix Deformation and Veining in Alpine Subducted Oceanic Metasediments at Blueschist Facies Conditions

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract In subduction zones, the locked seismogenic zone is bordered by an upper and a lower transition zone. In these transition zones, deformation is primarily accommodated by an interplay of diffuse viscous deformation within a weak matrix and brittle deformation in stiffer bands and blocks.

In Situ Detection of Opal‐A in Jezero Crater, Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We report the in situ detection of amorphous hydrated silica in the Bills Bay abrasion patch, located in the eastern portion of the Margin Unit between the rim of Jezero crater and the western delta. Here, hydrated silica co‐occurs with olivine, Fe‐Mg carbonates, secondary Fe‐Mg silicates, and hydrated Mg‐sulfate as determined by UV Raman ...

Carbohydrate–Protein Hydrogels as Fat Replacers: Design Criteria and Benchmarking Against Full‐Fat Systems

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Reducing saturated fat while preserving the sensory quality of full‐fat foods remains a major formulation challenge because fat contributes simultaneously to body, lubrication, flavor delivery, and thermal transitions. Carbohydrate–protein (CP) hydrogels are increasingly explored as oil‐free fat replacers, but many systems are developed and ...
