Anti-inflammatory activity of tanzawaic acid derivatives from a marine-derived fungus Penicillium steckii 108YDC142

open access: yes, 2015
Chemical investigation of a marine-derived fungus Penicillium steckii 108YDC142, isolated from a marine sponge sample collected at Wangdolcho, East Sea, Korea, resulted in the discovery of a new tanzawaic acid derivative (1), together with four known ...

Talaropeptides A-D: Structure and Biosynthesis of Extensively N-methylated Linear Peptides From an Australian Marine Tunicate-Derived Talaromyces sp.

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2018
An Australian marine tunicate-derived fungus, Talaromyces sp. CMB-TU011 was subjected to a program of analytical microbioreactor (MATRIX) cultivations, supported by UHPLC-QTOF profiling, to reveal conditions for producing a new class of extensively N ...

Brasilterpenes A–E, Bergamotane Sesquiterpenoid Derivatives with Hypoglycemic Activity from the Deep Sea-Derived Fungus Paraconiothyrium brasiliense HDN15-135

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2022
Five bergamotane sesquiterpenoid derivatives, brasilterpenes A–E (1–5), bearing an unreported spiral 6/4/5 tricyclic ring system, were isolated from the deep sea-derived ascomycete fungus Paraconiothyrium brasiliense HDN15-135.

Cytotoxic and Antimicrobial Compounds from the Marine-Derived Fungus, Penicillium Species [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
The organic extract of liquid cultures of the marine-derived Penicillium sp. was investigated. Fractionation of the extracts of the fungus led to the purification and identification of two new compounds, penicillatides A (1) and B (2), together with the previously reported cyclo(R-Pro–S-Phe) (3) and cyclo(R-Pro–R-Phe) (4). The structures of compounds 1–

Microbial ecological memory of recurrent drought enhances host stress tolerance through enrichment of plant‐beneficial bacteria

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Recurrent desiccation induced niche‐specific microbial ecological memory in the green part of Calohypnum plumiforme, marked by enrichment of plant‐beneficial bacteria, especially Methylobacterium and Sphingomonas, and functional shifts toward symbiosis and stress protection, potentially enhancing host tolerance within a “holobiont ecology memory ...

Transcriptomic stress responses in Vaccinium spp. F1 hybrids: Implications for temperature‐resilient cranberry breeding using a crop wild relative

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Climate extremes threaten the sustainability of cranberry production, a culturally and economically important North American crop. This study demonstrates that wild cranberries (Vaccinium oxycoccos) harbor genetic variation that may enhance cold stress resilience when introduced into cultivated cranberry through hybridization.

Resistance of Botrytis cinerea to anilinopyrimidine fungicides: A novel ARMS‐PCR method for the detection of Bcpos5 mutations and characterization of resistance using CRISPR/Cas9 editing

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
A TETRA‐primer amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction (T‐ARMS‐PCR) method was developed for simultaneous detection of the L412F/V and G408V mutations. L412F/V mutants were created using the CRISPR/Cas tool and no fitness cost was observed.

Sustainable Polymer Biocomposites for Food Packaging: Green Nanotechnology, Circular Plastic Upcycling and Smart Functional Materials

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract showing the development of biodegradable polymer biocomposites reinforced with natural fibres, green nanoparticles and waste‐plastic upcycling pathways toward sustainable smart food packaging materials ABSTRACT The fundamental hypothesis behind this review is that the combination of biodegradable polymer‐based biocomposites, which ...

Integrating infection intensity and aggregation into the dynamics of pathogens with within‐host replication

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
We bridge micro‐ and macroparasite theory with a model tracking pathogen load heterogeneity. By incorporating load‐dependent mortality and within‐host pathogen growth, we show how pathogen load aggregation alters disease prevalence, host suppression effects, and virulence evolution, providing insights for managing complex infectious disease like ...

Changing climates and environments within the complex Middle to Late Pleistocene fill of an overdeepened valley at Niederweningen, Switzerland

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Glacially overdeepened valleys in the northern Alpine Foreland preserve Middle to Late Pleistocene sedimentary sequences that may serve as valuable archives for reconstructing past environmental changes in response to shifts in climate. This study presents a multidisciplinary analysis of two sediment cores from the overdeepened Wehntal Valley at ...
