AbstractHemp (Cannabis sativa L.) was used for textile and cordage more than 4000 years. The cultivation of industrial hemp declined in the 19th century but it remains one of the oldest crops in history. Despite of the decline, nowadays interest for this crop has recently been renewed within various European countries (Roman et al., 2012).

Assessment of components of genetic variance of mass 1000 seeds in sunflower -Heuanthus annuus L.-
Ten F1 hybrids obtained by crossing five sunflower inbred lines were used to analyze the impact of genes with additive and dominant effects and their interactions on the inheritance of mass 1000 seeds. The linkage among the expected progeny means was tested using the scaling tests method (Mather, 1949), while the estimates of gene effects and mode of ...

Seed and fruit yield of indeterminate tomato genotypes grown on four nodes [PDF]
This paper presents the impact of floral branches on the production of seeds and fruit The first and second nodes were the most important for yield. 1000 seed mass ranged from 2.82 g in variety Dunavski rubin, to 3.27 g in variety Novosadski jabučar. All

Defoliation and nitrogen fertilization on the physiological quality of soybean seeds [PDF]
Stress caused by defoliation can compromise the physiological quality of soybean seeds. However, there is evidence that the application of nitrogen (N) can be an alternative to reduce the qualitative losses in seeds caused by defoliating insects.

Shining in the Dark: the Spectral Evolution of the First Black Holes [PDF]
Massive Black Hole (MBH) seeds at redshift $z \gtrsim 10$ are now thought to be key ingredients to explain the presence of the super-massive ($10^{9-10} \, \mathrm{M_{\odot}}$) black holes in place $ < 1 \, \mathrm{Gyr}$ after the Big Bang.

Assessing inflow rates in atomic cooling halos: implications for direct collapse black holes [PDF]
Supermassive black holes are not only common in the present-day galaxies, but billion solar masses black holes also powered $z\geq 6$ quasars. One efficient way to form such black holes is the collapse of a massive primordial gas cloud into a so-called ...
