J‐SUPPORT research policy for oral mucositis associated with cancer treatment

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 24, Page 4816-4829, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Oral mucositis is one of the main areas of research in supportive and palliative care of cancer patients. However, the methodology of prospective clinical trials on oral mucositis has not been established, despite its uniqueness.

Masticatory overload due to areca nut chewing on dental implants

open access: yesSaudi Journal for Health Sciences, 2019
The habitual chewing of areca nut causes severe wear of incisal and occlusal surfaces of the tooth. However, in implant-supported occlusion, the effect of areca nut chewing is not documented in the literature.

A Quantitative Information Measure applied to Texture Perception Attributes during Mastication [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We have calculated a quantitative measure of information of experimentally determined temporal dominance of sensations (TDS) frequencies of texture attributes, for a set of diverse samples throughout the mastication cycle. The samples were emulsion filled gels, two-layered emulsion filled gels, and sausages.

Mitigating Strain Localization via Stabilized Phase Boundaries for Strengthening Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Strain localization along phase or grain boundaries leads to crack initiation typical of alloys. In multi‐principal element alloys, the enamel‐like microstructure is stabilized by phase boundaries. This facilitates trans‐phase migration of semi‐atomic surfaces and provides sufficient plastic space for dislocation‐mediated deformation.

Impact of Masticatory Discomfort on Daily Living Difficulties in Korean Elderly with Cognitive Decline

open access: yes치위생과학회지, 2023
Background: Cognitive impairment has been reported to be closely associated with poor oral health, and the relationship is bidirectional, as older adults with poor oral health and chewing function are at a higher risk of cognitive decline (CD).

Dynamic behavior analysis for a six axis industrial machining robot [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Materials Research 423 (2012) 65-76, 2012
The six axis robots are widely used in automotive industry for their good repeatability (as defined in the ISO92983) (painting, welding, mastic deposition, handling etc.). In the aerospace industry, robot starts to be used for complex applications such as drilling, riveting, fiber placement, NDT, etc. Given the positioning performance of serial robots,

An Insect Salivary Sheath Protein Triggers Plant Resistance to Insects and Pathogens as a Conserved HAMP

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The salivary sheath protein myosin from SBPH is critical for the formation of the salivary sheath and feeding. However, myosin functions as a HAMP and triggered plant BAK1‐mediated PTI responses, which include the activation of calcium signaling pathways, MAPK phosphorylation, ROS bursts, and cell death, thereby triggering JA pathway.

Eosinophils‐Induced Lumican Secretion by Synovial Fibroblasts Alleviates Cartilage Degradation via the TGF‐β Pathway Mediated by Anxa1 Binding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Eosinophils play a crucial role in the progression of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA). This study demonstrates that eosinophils, induced by OVA/IL‐5, promote Lumican secretion in the synovium, which binds to Annexin A1 in chondrocytes, inhibiting transforming growth factor β2 and Smad2/3 phosphorylation.

Association between brain lateralization and mixing ability of chewing side

open access: yesJournal of Dental Sciences, 2017
Background/purpose: Previous studies have suggested that functional dominance in one part of the body can be correlated with functional dominance in another part.
