Design, Semisynthesis, and Estrogenic Activity of Lignan Derivatives from Natural Dibenzylbutyrolactones

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2022
Based on molecular docking studies on the ERα, a series of lignan derivatives (3–16) were designed and semisynthesized from the natural dibenzylbutyrolactones bursehernin (1) and matairesinol dimethyl ether (2).

A Digestive Herbal Mixture Preparation Stimulates Proton Secretion in Human Parietal Cells through Phenolic Compounds Targeting Bitter Taste Receptors

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 6, 29 March 2026.
Polyphenol‐rich herbal extracts stimulate proton secretion in human parietal cells (HGT‐1) via activation of extra‐oral bitter taste receptors (TAS2Rs). A commercially available herbal mixture preparation and its nine solvent extracts show concentration‐dependent effects correlating with total polyphenol content.

Formation of Lignans(-)-Secoisolariciresinol and (-)-Matairesinol with Forsythia intermedia Cell-Free Extracts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
In vivo labeling experiments of Forsythia intermedia plant tissue with [8-(C-14)]- and [9,9-(2)H2,OC(2)H3]coniferyl alcohols revealed that the lignans, (-)-secoisolariciresinol and (-)-matairesinol, were derived from two coniferyl alcohol molecules; no ...

Nutritional and Health Potential of Edible Seeds: Micronutrient Bioavailability and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
Their bioactive constituents act through antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and metabolic‐regulating mechanisms, validating their classification as functional foods. Evidence from clinical and biochemical studies largely supports these benefits, although some claims stem from preliminary or in vitro findings.

A Narrative Review on Unravelling Bacterial‐Mediated Carcinogenesis and Possible Alternative Treatment Strategies

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The potential roles of chemical, physical, and viral factors in cancer development are well documented. Similarly, bacterial carcinogenesis has been reported previously, though not extensively. Therefore, we aimed to provide comprehensive, mechanistic evidence on the pathogenesis of bacteria‐induced carcinogenesis and possible treatments to halt cancer
