Molecular identification and functional characterization of rabbit MATE1 and MATE2-K
American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 2007An electroneutral organic cation (OC)/proton exchanger in the apical membrane of proximal tubules mediates the final step of renal OC excretion. Two members of the multidrug and toxin extrusion family, MATE1 and MATE2-K, were recently identified in human and rodent kidney and proposed to be the molecular basis of renal OC/H+exchange.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of sotorasib on metformin pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and the effect of metformin on sotorasib pharmacokinetics in healthy subjects. Sotorasib is an oral, small molecule inhibitor of the Kirsten rat sarcoma oncogene homolog (KRAS) G12C mutant protein (KRASG12C) protein approved by the U.

DkDTX1/MATE1 mediates the accumulation of proanthocyanidin and affects astringency in persimmon
Plant, Cell & EnvironmentAbstractProanthocyanidins (PAs) is a kind of polyphenols widely distributed in plants, and their astringent properties can protect plants from herbivores and regulate fruit taste. There is a great difference in PA composition between astringent (A)‐type and nonastringent (NA)‐type persimmon.

Emtricitabine is a substrate of MATE1 but not of OCT1, OCT2, P-gp, BCRP or MRP2 transporters
Xenobiotica, 20161. Emtricitabine is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor used in combination antiretroviral therapy of HIV (cART). Although active transport mechanisms are believed to mediate tubular secretion of the drug into urine, the responsible transporter and its potential to cause pharmacokinetic drug--drug interactions (DDI) has not been identified so ...

Twelve transmembrane helices form the functional core of mammalian MATE1
The FASEB Journal, 2012MATE1 and MATE2/2‐K, the mammalian organic cation/H + (OC/H + ) exchangers, are key players in renal and hepatic secretion of cationic drugs. They belong to a superfamily of transport proteins (Multidrug And Toxin Extruders) with 1000+ members.

No Inhibition of MATE1/2K-Mediated Renal Creatinine Secretion Predicted With Ritonavir or Cobicistat
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2019Cobicistat has been reported to increase serum creatinine clinically without affecting glomerular filtration. This was ascribed to transient inhibition of MATE1-mediated renal creatinine secretion. Interestingly, a structurally similar drug, ritonavir, has not been associated with serum creatinine increases at the pharmacoenhancer dose.

Uptake of MPP+, metformin and several other drugs by MATE1, MATE2K
2015MATE1 (multidrug and toxin extrusion protein 1) and MATE2K, encoded respectively by the SCL47A1 and SCL47A2 genes, are transporters in mammals mediating the efflux of organic cations and zwitterions. They are located preferentially on the apical membrane of epithelia of the renal proximal tubules. MATE1[for full text, please go to the a.m. URL]
