Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

A Robust Hermitian and Skew-Hermitian Based Multiplicative Splitting Iterative Method for the Continuous Sylvester Equation

open access: yesMathematics
For solving the continuous Sylvester equation, a class of Hermitian and skew-Hermitian based multiplicative splitting iteration methods is presented. We consider two symmetric positive definite splittings for each coefficient matrix of the continuous ...

A Parameterized Multi-Splitting Iterative Method for Solving the PageRank Problem

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In this paper, a new multi-parameter iterative algorithm is proposed to address the PageRank problem based on the multi-splitting iteration method. The proposed method solves two linear subsystems at each iteration by splitting the coefficient matrix ...

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

A simple scheme for masses and mixings of quarks and neutrinos [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The mass matrices of charged fermions have a simple structure if expressed in powers of the small parameter sigma=(m_c/m_t)^{1/2}. It is suggested that the mass matrix of the three heavy neutrinos occuring in grand unified theories can be expressed in ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Improving approximate matrix factorizations for implicit time integration in air pollution modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
For a long time operator splitting was the only computationally feasible way of implicit time integration in large scale Air Pollution Models. A recently proposed attractive alternative is Rosenbrock schemes combined with Approximate Matrix Factorization

Polarized line formation with J-state interference in the presence of magnetic fields: A heuristic treatment of collisional frequency redistribution

open access: yes, 2012
An expression for the partial frequency redistribution (PRD) matrix for line scattering in a two-term atom, which includes the J-state interference between its fine structure line components is derived.

Magnetic Photon Splitting: the S-Matrix Formulation in the Landau Representation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Calculations of reaction rates for the third-order QED process of photon splitting in strong magnetic fields traditionally have employed either the effective Lagrangian method or variants of Schwinger's proper-time technique.
