The Third-Order Term in the Normal Approximation for the AWGN Channel

open access: yes, 2013
This paper shows that, under the average error probability formalism, the third-order term in the normal approximation for the additive white Gaussian noise channel with a maximal or equal power constraint is at least $\frac{1}{2} \log n + O(1)$.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Three-term exponential asymtotic for the maximal term of an entire Dirichlet series(in Ukrainian) [PDF]

open access: yesМатематичні Студії, 2011
Conditions on the coefficients and the exponents of an entireDirichlet series, under which for its maximal term the asymptoticequality$lnmu(sigma)=T_1e^{varrho_1sigma}+T_2e^{varrho_2sigma}+(au+o(1))e^{varrhosigma}$ $(sigmao +infty)$ is valid, where ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

$L_{1}$-maximal regularity for quasilinear second order differential equation with damped term

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2015
We investigated a quasilinear second order equation with damped term on the real axis. We gave some suitable conditions for existence of the $L_{1}$-maximal regular solutions of this equation.

On the maximal number of three-term arithmetic progressions in subsets of Z/pZ

open access: yes, 2007
Let a be a real number between 0 and 1. Ernie Croot showed that the quantity \max_A #(3-term arithmetic progressions in A)/p^2, where A ranges over all subsets of Z/pZ of size at most a*p, tends to a limit as p tends to infinity through primes. Writing c(

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

On the h-measure of an exceptional set in Fenton-type theorem for Taylor-Dirichlet series

open access: yesМатематичні Студії
We consider the class $S(\lambda,\beta,\tau)$ of convergent for all  $x\ge0$ Taylor-Dirichlet type series of the form $$F(x) =\sum_{n=0}^{+\infty}{b_ne^{x\lambda_n+\tau(x)\beta_n}},\  b_n\geq 0\ (n\geq 0),$$  where  $\tau\colon [0,+\infty)\to (0 ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
