A monte carlo analysis of the type II tobit maximum likelihood estimator when the true model is the type I tobit model [PDF]

open access: yes
Type I (censored regression) and Type II Tobit (sample selection) models are widely used in the various fields of economics. The Type I Tobit model is a special case of the Type II Tobit model.

Bias-Correction Methods for the Unit Exponential Distribution and Applications

open access: yesMathematics
The bias of the maximum likelihood estimator can cause a considerable estimation error if the sample size is small. To reduce the bias of the maximum likelihood estimator under the small sample situation, the maximum likelihood and parametric bootstrap ...

Bayesian and Classical Estimation of Stress-Strength Reliability for Inverse Weibull Lifetime Models

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2017
In this paper, we consider the problem of estimating stress-strength reliability for inverse Weibull lifetime models having the same shape parameters but different scale parameters.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Indirect likelihood inference [PDF]

open access: yes
Given a sample from a fully specified parametric model, let Zn be a given finite-dimensional statistic - for example, an initial estimator or a set of sample moments. We propose to (re-)estimate the parameters of the model by maximizing the likelihood of

Tropical Toric Maximum Likelihood Estimation

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Algebra and Geometry
We consider toric maximum likelihood estimation over the field of Puiseux series and study critical points of the likelihood function using tropical methods. This problem translates to finding the intersection points of a tropical affine space with a classical linear subspace.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Penalized Maximum Likelihood Estimator for Normal Mixtures

open access: yes, 2003
International audienceThe estimation of the parameters of a mixture of Gaussian densities is considered, within the framework of maximum likelihood. Due to unboundedness of the likelihood function, the maximum likelihood estimator fails to exist.
