Assemblage and diversity analysis of butterfly species in relation to climatic conditions in some tropical habitats: optimization through artificial neural network model

open access: yesJournal of Ecology and Environment
Background: Biodiversity serves as the foundation for ecosystems and the functional roles of species that supply services to human well-being. The functional roles of species in a region can be assessed by estimating biological diversity.

Targeting the Maximum Outlet Temperature of Solar Collectors

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
The aim of this work is to show the construction and application of design curves for solar collector networks of the flat plate type. The design curves display two important design parameters: delivery temperature and the minimum number of solar collectors in series to achieve that target temperature.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Planktonic foraminiferal Mg/Ca as a proxy for past oceanic temperatures: a methodological overview and data compilation for the Last Glacial Maximum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
As part of the Multi-proxy Approach for the Reconstruction of the Glacial Ocean (MARGO) incentive, published and unpublished temperature reconstructions for the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) based on planktonic foraminiferal Mg/Ca ratios have been ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE IN AN IDEAL GREENHOUSE

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2017
The greenhouse is a tool for the accumulation of solar energy and its conversion into heat. The article investigates the heating of the greenhouse caused by the difference in the transmissivity of glass in different wavelength ranges. Firstly, some facts from the history of the phenomenon investigation are presented.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Non-Invasive Body Temperature Measurement of Wild Chimpanzees Using Fecal Temperature Decline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
New methods are required to increase our understanding of pathologic processes in wild mammals. We developed a noninvasive field method to estimate the body temperature of wild living chimpanzees habituated to humans, based on statistically fitting ...
