Jackknife empirical likelihood ratio test for testing mean time to failure order

open access: yes
In this paper, we propose a new non-parametric test for testing mean time to failure order. The asymptotic properties of the proposed test statistic are studied.

Quick Algorithms to Calculate Mean Time to Failure and Steady State Availability of Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Calculation of reliability and availability is a necessary part of every fault tolerant system design. Conventional methods, which use calculus of probability, almost fail when there is dependant failure, repair, or standby operation in the system.

Standardized mean time-to-treatment interval times estimated from accelerated failure time models with Weibull distribution.

open access: yes, 2019
NHL = non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, AG = anogenital, HN = head and neck, Esoph = Esophageal, OTH = other cancers. Each cancer grouping was standardized to the distribution of the following covariates in the patients with that cancer type: age (quadratic ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Forecast Failure, Expectations Formation, and the Lucas Critique [PDF]

open access: yes
Since forecast failure is due to unanticipated large shifts in deterministic factors,'sensible' agents should adopt 'robust forecasting rules'. Unless the model coincides with the generating mechanism, one cannot even prove that causal variables will ...

Predictors of treatment failure and time to detection and switching in HIV-infected Ethiopian children receiving first line anti-retroviral therapy

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2012
BackgroundThe emergence of resistance to first line antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen leads to the need for more expensive and less tolerable second line drugs.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Efficiency in Estimation of Mean Time to Failure in a Two-Parameter Exponential Failure Model

open access: yes, 1977
When comparing two point estimators of some parametric function, Pitman-closeness efficiency gives the odds in favor of one of the estimators being closer to the true value than is the other in a given situation.

Mean Time to System Failure and Availability Modeling of a Repairable non Identical Three Unit Warm Standby Redundant System

open access: yes, 2013
Most of the studies on reliability characteristics of redundant systems deal with cold standby systems only. Little attention is paid on 2-out-of-3 warm standby system involving three types of failures. In this study modelsfor mean time to system failure
