Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Space Transportation System Availability Relationships to Life Cycle Cost [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Future space transportation architectures and designs must be affordable. Consequently, their Life Cycle Cost (LCC) must be controlled. For the LCC to be controlled, it is necessary to identify all the requirements and elements of the architecture at the

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Duration of Surgery and Learning Curve Affect Rotator Cuff Repair Retear Rates: A Post Hoc Analysis of 1600 Cases

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine, 2020
Background: Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair can be quite complex and time consuming, particularly early in the surgeon’s learning curve. Hypothesis: Patients who have undergone rotator cuff repair with shorter operative times will be less likely to have

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Reliability Mathematical Models of Repairable Systems With Uncertain Lifetimes and Repair Times

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In system reliability problems, the lifetimes and the repair times are usually indeterministic. When insufficient samples are available to estimate distribution functions of the lifetimes and the repair times, it is rational to invite some experts to ...

Availability analysis of the traveling-wave maser amplifiers in the deep space network. Part 1: The 70-meter antennas [PDF]

open access: yes
The results of the reliability and availability analyses of the individual S- and X-band traveling-wave maser (TWM) assemblies and their operational configurations in the 70-meter antennas of NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN) are described.

Effect of sample age on the self-healing properties of cementitious mateials with superabsorbent polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To obtain sustainable construction materials, occurring cracks in concrete should be repaired. However, as this often manual repair is time-consuming and expensive, self-healing may provide a solution.
